Forums - Sales - Holy Crap: Canadians get parity on PS3 price?

Officially, the 60gb is the same price as the 80gb. In reality, you'll find it for $450, if you can find it at all.

I purchased a 60 GB PS3 for $449 at my local Best Buy and they had lots in stock.
What goes up can come down!

Canada has so much oil I do not see this happening in a long time. Between Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada is going to be a major oil power for decades to come.

It great to see the Canadian dollar so strong but they need to do something about the book prices here. We are playing an extra 5 bucks for them. Also we pay an extra 10$ for no reason on games.

yea but at this point in ps2's lifespan the canadian dollar was something like 66 cents to a dollar. I remember i went to Canada 5 years ago and that was the exchange rate. Now the Canadian dollar is actually stronger than the US dollar, it's really quite amazing.

True the Canadian dollar reached an all time low in year 2003. But don't think it is actually amazing. Since this isn't the first time the Canadian dollar has been worth parity or more then the US dollar. Infact only 33 years ago the Canadian dollar was worth even more then it is today. The US dollar has had a little time in the limelight but its back on the rebound and the Canadian dollar is back healthy again.

My best guess the US dollar will continue to fall untill the Canadian dollar is vastly superior. This is cause by not only trhe crippling realestate market but the American dependance on Canadian resources. Examples include Canadian oil , lumber , water and many other resources the US is now becoming relient on.

That being said because my personal opinion is likely going to flare anti-Canadian or Anti-American hate. I think theirs a good chance that this is a cycle the US dollar drops the Canadian dollar goes higher then in about 30-years the US dollar rebounds retaking the lead from the Canadian dollar and it just repeats on and on.

Fact is Canada and the US have always had pretty close values. Except the odd all time low that the Canadian economy suffered.  I'm betting both currencies will remain competitive for my entire lifespan with different changes in our countries such as the lack of water in the UnitedStates and the lack of oil or Canadian defficincies.

Their will always be change but its great to see the market my parents grew up in. My mom used to always talk about going across the border to buy all of the cheap stuff because our dollar used to be superior but I never thought I'd see the day when our dollar was once again superior in my lifetime!
