This ugly thing has been right outside my home's front door for the last few weeks. Today I decided to take a picture of it and toss some poor defenseless insects into it's web. Oh boy did it wrap those poor suckers up fast.

I am curious if anyone knows what type of spider this is. I live on Long Island, in the US.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have my own problems. Seven stinkbugs are crawling on the outside of my window.

We used to have this one spider that showed up every year for about 3 years. It was bigger than this one and it was stripped like a tiger. I hated that thing. We would hose the bastard down and he would always find a way to survive and come back.

Well the similaraties are endless, but being no expert or knowing anything about spiders, all I could suggest is that one is the female and the other is the male variation ;)

to me it looks like its either a sac spider or a crab spider

Im guessing you took the picture a second before you light it on fire, crushed, boiled, electricuted, and crucifed the spider. Right?
