Forums - Gaming - console + PC games are NOT exclusive

"Ugh, where to begin, All of you completely missed what I said MULTIPLE times, WINDOWS IS A MICROSOFT PLATFORM, NXE IS A WINDOWS PLATFORM, GAMES RUN ON EITHER ARE RUN ON A WINDOWS PLATFORM. The PC itself is not a MS platform, but then, you are all confusing the PC hardware and the MS OS. Many (if not all) ports cannot be run on anything but windows (natively) and are, therefore, a MS exclusive. This of course is IF you really believe that a PC is a console."

You said it best yourself. The PC is a standalone platform in itself, even though MS contributes to it. So yet again.. a game that is released on multiple platforms is a multiplatform application/software/game.

Otherwis, like i said. World of Warcraft would be a Microsoft exclusive. Because you cant play it on a PS3. Call up blizzard and ask them what they feel about that.

Also;

"Cross-platform is a term that can also apply to video games released on a range of video game consoles, specialized computers dedicated to the task of playing games. Examples of cross-platform games include:

Each has been released across a variety of gaming platforms, such as the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, personal computers (PCs), and mobile devices."

I don't see how something can be exclusive when its on multiple platforms, just because one company is invested in multiple areas of video game. Computers is one platform, consoles is another platform, mobile devices is one platform and handhelds in one platform. Its defined as such all over the internet and in dictionaries. So just because a company is active in multiple areas, dosen't make a game "made up word"-exclusive. Thats just a word to boost your "fanboy exclusive" list. And everyone knows it.

Damn right. If a game is on the Pc and something else it's not exclusive. Period.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

""Look at the top the screen and you will see PC as it's own section. Even if you go to Metacritic it will say: "other platforms: PC ..."
We are not talking platforms, we are talking exclusives..""

"The term "exclusive" when used on this site is generally used in the context of CONSOLE games, Other platforms are irrelevant in these types of discussions." - So the PC IS a platform afterall?

Oh we've switched direction now have we? Haha. So NOW we're not talking platforms anymore.. so the last 50 posts of "MS is a platform" was what?

So if you want to backpeddle to Console exclusive again, sure. If something is released on multiple platforms, like you finally admitted that the PC was, what would that be defined as? One game - multiple platforms (platform 1/platform 2) - Multiplatform!

I also said that was if you beleived that the PC was a game console, which it is not, and  iproved that, so that whole argument is moot. Now, when people say "exclusive around here, what word is often see tied to "exclusive"? That's right class, "Console" Since the PC is NOT a gaming console, it matters not what games are ported to the PC, They are still...can you guess the words? that's right, "Console Exclusives"!!!!

Otherwis, like i said. World of Warcraft would be a Microsoft exclusive. Because you cant play it on a PS3. Call up blizzard and ask them what they feel about that.

See above statement, you would be correct if we were still on the "The PC is a console" track, but we are not.

Easy, Multiplat didn't belong in this convo to begin with, since we were talking about exclusives, and as I said before, exclusives generally are referring to Console exclusives, thus eliminating the whole "platform" argument... since at that time, people were still arguing that a PC was a console. So it really was just a straw grab anyway.

"Those games are console exclusive and still very important to whatever console has them. Microsoft ofcourse has Games for Windows and the 360 so they have two platform"

Obviously they are still important, but they cant be exclusives if they are on multiple platforms. That's the very definition of multiplatform. A software that works on multiple platforms, i.e Multiplatform.

So it can not be named "console EXCLUSIVE" because that contradicts itself. However, it can be called "360/PC Only"

You did however, twice actually, say that the PC was a Platform in itself. So /Thread.

I'm afraid you aren't getting out of it that easily, You see, as I explained in my last post, Platform has nothing to do woth the argument, you can kick and scream and cry platform all you want, but the thread was and still is, about exclusives (mainly to consoles since that is the context in which exclusive is mainly used) NOT platforms, the two are differant. Nice try though, care to go another round?

I really don't, since you're unable to see the correlation of Exclusive - Multiplatform. You however have stated that the 360 is a platform and the PC is a platform. And if a software is released on two different platforms, it can not by any means be anything else but a multiplatform. The two correlate.

A single software can not by any means be exclusive while still on multiple platforms. What the hell would classifiy as a multiplatform if not software released on multiple platforms. You yourself have argued intensly about MS being its own platform, and later on that Platform didnt have to be hardware, and now you're back to console and pc not being a console. You're just backpedaling whey you keep proving yourself wrong.

Theres no need to do an advanced nitpick and redefine words. All we have to do to clarify this issue is to define what multiplatform is. And that is software released on multiple platforms, and no matter how you bend it, that is the definition. And a game can not by any means be exclusive while still multiplatform.

So no.. not another round. There can't be. You ended it yourself when you acknowledged that the PC was a platform in its own.

Uhuh, nice try, but once again, you are forgetting that Platform and Console are two VERY differant things. Yes a game can be multiplat, but that is irrelevant if it is a CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE...Do you know what that term means? It means the game that can be played on one console, cannot be played on another console, and since a PC is not a console, it doesn't matter whether it is another platform or not. YOU CANNOT USE PLATFORM IN THIS DISCUSSION< HOW MANY FREAKING TIMES TO I NEED TO SAY THAT???????

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

You're either just sad, or you really can't see beyond your fanboy blindfold.

There cant be light without darkness, there cant be peace without war. And there cant be exclusive without multiplatform. What is multiplatform? What is not multiplatform? If something stops being exclusive, what does it transform to? Castle Crashers was an XBL exclusive, and are now releasing on PSN - what does that mean? When refering to Castle Crashers, what would you define it as? Would TomTom GPS be touch phone interface exclusive?

If we can define what multiplatform is, and we have, then the same product that classifies as a multiplatform, can not be exclusive.

Its like saying that water is "exclusive" to ice.
