I think that the Wii's stellar time is going to pass soon. When its HD siblings bring into the market the new motion controllers (especially Sony's one, since it is what resembles more to the Wii model) the casual public will start to look at them.

At first it won't make a significant difference, I think, but it will impact sooner or later. Maybe the Wii catches up something at sales, but I don't think that it will last for a long time.

I hate to have to explain this again, but I would like to say that IT IS NOT THE CONTROLLER THAT SELLS THE WII, IT IS THE GAMES THAT USE THE CONTROLLER.  Unless Sony or Microsoft come up with a game as sucessful as the Wii series, it won't affect the Wii anywhere near the level you are predicting. This is all discounting the fact that these controllers are NOT packed into the systems.

Ohhh, excuse me, Mr. Perfect Opinion. I'm so sorry to have bothered you in such a way that you had to use CAPS.

I'm sorry.

"IT IS NOT THE CONTROLLER THAT SELLS THE WII, IT IS THE GAMES THAT USE THE CONTROLLER"

The Wii has the games that use the controller= The Wii sells more because of its motion controller.

It isn't an 'opinion' we are discussing. It is the observations we have made. Really, people need to diffrentiate between the two. In this case you can be right or wrong. I never declared my observation as the "Perfect Opinion" anyway. Anyway, I ask you this, how much would the Wii have sold without Wiisports, Wii Play, Wii Fit, and other Wii Series games? I guarantee that it wouldn't be anywhere near what it has sold. How about you give me the subsitute that Sony and Microsoft have to simulate these games. Or tell me how it will be just as successful as the Wii is? Anyway

Indeed, but what do all that games have in common? The special Wii motion controllers.

I respect your opinion. What I didn't like is that you yelled at me that way.

Yes. A price cut is still a price cut, and the item is already selling pretty well.

That and every holiday season people come out of the wood work that apparently don't own a Wii. It's happened EVERY christmas, and I don't see this one as being an exception.

It's just that simple.

there is no doubt that it will outsell PS3....

I'd kinda have to agree on this.  I mean price wasnt an issue for the Wii to begin with so i think if majority of people wanted to get one wouldve already gotten one.  I predict a small boost (and may beat PS3) but eventually will go back to its current sales etc.

Normally I would agree with you, but I know several people who already have a Wii and have been saying for a while now that once the price dropped they are going to buy one for their parents.  And when price drops happen for whatever reason people want to buy multiple systems for their home if they regularly play on more then one TV. Remember the Wii appeals the greatest to young kids, girls of all ages, and older mom and dads / grandparents not familiar with other game systems.

yup, especially in Japan

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

I wasn't yelling. I was defining the point, so it doesn't only get across to you, but others who feel that Motion Controls are the only thing that sell the Wii. I could have italisized it, but at the time I wasn't using Rich Text Posting. I don't yell over video games, :). It is just a case of an old argument coming up again, and me trying to kill it.

This week will tell all. Currently from year to date Wii is only ahead in annual sales by 8,237 in  Japan. Can Sony take the lead?  or will the Wii extend the lead?

it is 50%/50% because a 100$ price cut would have been more affective on Wii 's sales ps3 slim is still new and people love it too much and appreciate it considering Uncharted 2 coming very soon and some more exclusives well from the amazon side it seems that customers have chosen Wii but ps3 is still on the top 10 with Uncharted 2 #2(please don 't start a war about amazon)

I would have to agree that i dont think the price cut will help as much as most think. The Wii is basicly a more casual device and i find it hard to believe that most people are really that more drawn to it now that its 50$ cheaper. Was their a huge market of people that were sitting back thinking "God i would love a Wii only if it was 50$ cheaper". I dont think so but i could be wrong. Actually most people i know including myself already thought the Wii has been priced at 200$ for a year now. I see a new color, new design or a new game from an old franchise selling more consoles. Maybe first week sales will be great but i see them normal after 2 weeks.
