I have the latest EDGE magazine in front of me now. WarDevil is running at 1080p and 60fps on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

You can all go back to hating EDGE now..

Well...most big games on 360 are sub-HD (ODST, COD MW2, Tekken 6 to name a few).. not even 720p ! How can it do native 1080p60fps ? it will be extremely difficult.

Most big games on PS3 are sub-HD/720p. And two of those three games you mentioned are also on the PS3 and run at the same sub HD resolution.

HOLY SHIT... I just read the article. They are able to render visuals at true 1080p at an unbroken 60fps using just one core of the Xbox 360... The texture resolutions are decent also. They are working on implementing 1024 by 1024 res textures for every 4 square meters of gameworld and they already have 2048x2048 res textures for character face's, torso's and limbs. (for an comparison in Fallout 3 everything from the neckdown used just one 1024x1024 texture)

They also rendered something on the original Xbox and then used a debug to split the camera into two so it was rendering twice as much. (I got confused at this point lol) 

I can't be botherd typing the entire thing up for you all to see. I can't scan it either. There is 5 pages on info.

I MAY type it later but in my own thread considering this is in the Sony section when it clearly isn't exclusive.

Lol this shows how much you know.

In-game texture resolution and actual output resolution are two different things.

That 1024x1024 4 Metre Sq texture won't be filling the entire 1920x1080 screen.

No, I know of no first party PS3 game which renders below 720p.

Porting issues and issues with regard to obsolete legacy game engines were expected years before the PS3 launched.

Halo 3 is IMO an eyeopener, its low rendering resolution and lack of AA (advertised as penalty free by Microsoft in the past) shows the console's sweetspot is actually below HD (implementing good HDR combined with AA). Bungie isn't incompetent, nor do they lack resources, nor did they have to deal with porting issues.

Also going 1080p only really makes sense if the assets are of good enough quality. Uncharted 2 shows the PS3 can stream a huge amount of high quality textures without pop-in issues, probably they can take this even further with Uncharted 3 amongst other optimisations they highlighted.

A few years ago I talked about the Cell's good potential of handling procedural synthesized textures, therefore I have been following WarDevil's progress for quite some time.
