Forums - Sony - just bought a psp-go today and loving it so far

Nice to see you're enjoying it. Would you be able to provide a breakdown of your personal pros and cons for it?

@tedsteriscool, sure.

pros :
1. feels very comfortable
2. screen is nice and vibrant
3. works nicely with the ps3, i think better than the regular psp models. my opinion though
4. i found the screen placement and the controls a more natural lay out and u should never have too worry about touching the screen ( so no screen sheet covers like u needed for the regular psp models ).
5. the 16gb of storage is a very welcome addition and i think very needed ( already have 5gb used up )
6. sound is nice and clear
7. downloading is very smooth
8. free version of gt , very cool :)

cons :
1. wish the storage was bigger from the get go, like 30gb .

thats the only draw back for me anyways, cause with all these damn rpg's i plan on downloading i will run out very quick.

Yeah more storage is needed. They said that the games would be small in sizes so 16gb would go a long way. But when i browsed the update yesterday there were alot of 900mb -1.3GB games. Atleast the ones i was interested in.

But you could transfer your games to the PC/PS3 for storage if i remember correctly, to free some space.

According to this

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/reviews/2009/10/psp-go-review-sony-is-charging-you-much-more-for-much-less.ars/3

(i will also add that even though we are in the wireless-N era, the PSP Go still comes with wireless B. I thought that by charging people more and even adding bluetooth, they would update the ancient wireless b to at least a g)

The Good

  • The screen is beautiful in action
  • Clicky, responsive buttons
  • Hardware is aesthetically pleasing
  • The pause function is great
  • Bluetooth headset, to use with your bluetooth headset, PS3 controllers, or to tether to your cell phone
  • Sound is strong using the built-in speakers

The Bad

  • The system can't download games while you're doing other things
  • Way too expensive
  • Absolutely no way to play any of your existing games
  • Controls are cramped
  • Smaller screen
  • Games tend to be more expensive than retail
  • No competition in pricing for games
  • No way to sell games you buy
  • None of your cables or accessories will work, except for headphones
  • Screen is wasted while closed, only shows clock, calendar

The Ugly

  • Waiting hours to download a patch, charge your batteries, buy a game, download your game, and then install your game, and then finally... guess what? playing your game!
  • Your system can already do what this system claims to do, and better. Minus the bluetooth and the 16GB of internal storage, this is a step back in every way
  • If Sony continues this trend, expect a $500 PS3 that doesn't play Blu-ray discs

Thank you very much, sir. It's always interesting to hear an individual's point of view.

congrats, I don't see myself buying one at the moment.

Got one yesterday as well, besides games its already replaced my ipod touch. Took it the gym to listen to music while working out and about 7 people asked about it lol

I'm loving it so far but I wish the games were a bit more cheaper.

And whenever I try to download a demo, a message pops up saying "Install failed". Why does it say that and how do I fix it?

enjoy. Although you might regret the limited selection without the umd drive.

Hopefully this doesn't become another sega nomad.

^ They'll probably have another huge batch of games for the Japanese release date of PSP GO.

Hopefully they add more good minis at actual mini prices.
