Forums - Sony - PSP GO - Thoughts?

To those who hate on the psp Go, remember it serves its purpose well.

1. Test the waters of digital distribution

2. Reignite interest in the psp system as a whole

3. Make Sony some Money!

That's it. Its not supposed to replace the 3000 or UMD, and it isn't supposed to dominated the handheld market. Its a test, a beta if you will, for the future of game distribution. And it does its job well.

Well, you do know that if it does do well they are going to discontinue the UMD PSP and any future handhelds will be digital. Maybe even future consoles.

I don't have a psp go but i do have an issue with the updated store which is that for lot of the new games it doesn't tell you how much space they take up. Does anyone know where you can find this out?

Did anyone pick up a PSP GO? What do you think of it? Is it worth $50 more than a Wii and just $50 less than a PS3? How about having to rebuy your UMDs?

My personal thoughts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AyVh1_vWYQ (caution, lots of bad language).

ahah OMG that video si awesome

hahhahahahaahhahah THATS WAS AMAZING!

For the same price over here I can get a 360 elite + a game. it's also the same price as the PS3 slim!
I'd rather keep my PSP 3000 so I can play the older PSP games.

They make portable 360s now?  Most of my gaming occurs on the bus these days, and a portable 360 would own.

Yeah i picked up the PSP Go!. Its pretty damn good. The fact you can connect to the internet where ever you are even if there isnt a WiFI connection around. As you can just bluetooth to your phone and use it as a modem. Thats a neat feature.

Its also extremely light. Much lighter then the PSP-3000 and IPhones. The design is sleek. It's also much smaller then you realise. Once you have it in your hands its pretty tiny (same size as a Iphone).

The buttons are comfortable for me and the analogue stick is the best on the PSP to date.

I just really like the fact you can access your PS3 anywhere now with the PSP Go as long as your mobile (cell) phone has a signal + bluetooth.

PSP Go! + PS3 + Vidzone make this machine perfect for watching and listening to music videos that grow every week. Its like having your own music but not paying for it legally.

Is it worth the extra $$$ .. well imo yes it is.

umm...i thought what i said was pretty straight forward. they are testing digital distribution, if it succeeds they will, of course, stop making the standard UMD PSP and only make the GO. if it succeeds, all future (at least sony) portables will be digital distribution only.

So, specialops787, do you prefer PSP Slim?

Honestly, I would prefer the PSP GO. Because I'm not a previous PSP owner so I don't have to worry about what do I do with my old UMDs. I feel like it is over priced, but at the same time, maybe not. I feel like its over prices when compared to home consoles: more expensive than Wii, only $50 less than PS3. But I feel that it is not over priced when compared to ipod touch.

I feel like it is missing some features, such as how they should have obviously put a touch screen on it. Wireless B is pretty dated. Other than those things I think it is a solid piece of hardware and it looks very slick.

Personally, I would still get a DSlite or DSi (I'm not sure which one because I would like GBA support, but then I would loose the online stuff). I just think it has more games that I would play: Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, puzzle stuff, etc. I can play PSP type games on my 360.

edit: that video at the top was more for comedic effect than anything else.
