Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fft+ has KUNG FU

"Not only will you receive the previous balance games, but also 15 new Training Plus activities designed to put some fun into working out. Rhythm Kung-Fu, one of our favorites, incorporates the remote, nunchuk and balance board, as players punch and kick with the beat. Meanwhile, Obstacle Course plays like Super Mario Bros., with gamers jumping over logs and dodging objects, except they physically perform those actions with the balance board. We're also fans of Bird's-Eye Bull's-Eye, a game where players flap their arms to control a Mii dressed as a bird, the goal to land on targets and score the most points.

Keep in mind, of course, that these three games barely scratch the surface of what you can expect from Wii Fit Plus. And to make the deal even sweeter, up to nine people can compete in these games, taking turns with a single balance board.

Whether or not Wii Fit Plus will help you get in tip top condition, as Nintendo claims, remains to be seen, but this is an incredibly enjoyable video game for a budget price. Of course, if you still haven't purchased a balance board, now's a perfect time."

Scored it a 9/10 - http://www.gamedaily.com/games/wii-fit-plus/wii/game-reviews/review/8777/2343

How long does it f----ng take for a Kung Fu game to be made on Wii? I guess the answer is longer than 3 years.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

"A Wii ____ game?" AAA? Unheard of!

Pixel Art can be fun.

I doubt it will be good kung fu. I wonder if it can measure kicks? It couldn't tell how high you kicked... Or could it? Hmm... Natal would be better for kung fu...

sounds more like TAE-BO

a lot of people don't realize that when they think of kung fu, they're actually thinking of wushu.
Kung fu can really be anything. What Jackie Chan does is more closely defined as wushu.

Ehhhhhhh, cynics.

Don't care, Kung Fu is good any way you get it. Did EA fit have any kick boxing? I guess it did but it certainly won't be fun like WF versions are.

I don't disagree that Natal would almost certainly do a better job, but there might be a way to estimate how high/strong a kick the player performed by looking at the spike in pressure being placed on the planted foot.

Really surprised that a reviewer would dare to give Wii Fit a 9. I shouldn't be, since it is the biggest new IP of the generation.

The same old question: why publishers wont just give us what we want?

Why, with 3 years into the Wii life cycle, we still dont have a 1-on-1 lightsaber game from lucasarts?

And the answer, as always, is "I dont have the slightest f____ idea"

So, is this game supposed to replace wii fit and if so, does it utilize your previous save data/channel?

But it wouldn't be able to tell if you kicked or not. You could just lift one leg and bend down and up and it would think it was a kick.

Is that really a problem for a non-competitive game, particularly one whose primary focus is exercise? Those who can do the exercise correctly will do it correctly and know that they did it correctly. Likewise, those who can't do it correctly will likely know that they aren't doing it correctly, but will hopefully do what they can, have fun (and a bit of exercise) without straining themselves, and possibly even get better at it over time.

Yes, it isn't difficult to fool Wii Fit into believing you are doing something you really aren't. Anyone bothered by that probably isn't part of the target audience for this software.
