Forums - Sony - Sony back at it with terrible advertising

At the risk of sounding stupid, where's the Nazi reference? Not denying it exists or whatever just can't see em can someone point them out please.

The first picture. The guy is giving blood to Rommel, and there is a swastika on the head of each bed.

My best guess (and this is a long shot) is that this goes back to the live in your world play in ours type of advertisement.

So, you can get a PS3 and bring those characters back to life through games like Call of Duty: World at War.

Overall, both images are well put together, but in bad taste and pointless for advertising.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Sony dosent know its history, Rommel was AGAINST The nazi's

I think there countering the hole 360 saves hearts things.

Also how the hell did Sony get to the Top with these type of ads?

I say PS3 troll and lack of advertising knowledge.

It's just one country though. And no ofense to Chile, but it's not exactly a huge gamaing market. I don't know a lot about Chilean culture, but if this ad was even concived, much less made reality, perhaps an image like this is deemed more acceptable there. Plus, as Nazis go, Rommel was considered one of the good ones! Still a poor choice by Sony to commercially tie their product to the Third Reich though. I can't believe I just typed that last sentence....

Uh guys... I hate to break the history to ya, but...

Rommel was a very respectable/moral man, and was a traitor to the Nazi regime -- he was involved in the plot to assassinate Hitler. He was "allowed" to commit suicide, by Hitler, after his discovery.

No officer of the Afrika Corps was ever accused of a war crime, btw. They were all very much not in line with the whole Nazi crap. They were German (and neighboring regions), and served in the German military, but that's about where the association ended.

You're going to have a lot of trouble finding generals more respectable than Rommel, especially during times of war. He and Hitler were like polar opposites. History is important guys.

OT: I agree the advertisement is strange and... well I don't personally like it much.

This is the first PS3 advertisement I've ever fucking understood.

It's telling me that the PS3 can put me into the bodies of many famous people so I can live through their adventures. I give them my heart and my blood, and I become them. I can even be Joan of Arc or the Desert Fox. Whoa.

Too bad they picked Nazis to fuck up their ad campaign, as usual. This is stupider than cup-stacking, crows, babies, Rubik's cubes, goat-sacrificing, racist PSP ads, fake graffiti, and even fake Christmas rapping blogs.

I could think of a million better examples than Rommel that could tell the same message while looking cooler, funnier, and not being a stupid forced cliche of a controversial-to-try-to-save-our-failing-product advertisement.

The average citizen of the world doesn't know which Nazi commander that is. You have to assume that the people looking at your advertisement only know what Nazi's are, not who was who and how respectable it is.

Either way, the advertising is bad.
