I'm a Protestant Christian but I don't agree with that. Jesus said: "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." (Luke 20:20). Let's keep things separated, please.

I don't think that mixing personal beliefs (faith) with politics is a good thing, plus, I don't usually like "Christian" politicians because an aura of hypochrisy sorrounds them...

Nope, nuffin.

I doubt that all Christian politicians are actually Christian. In America, 10% of the population is athiest/agnostic, and the more educated you are the more likely you are to be in that group. We have several hundred top politicians in Washington, and I only know of one open athiest (Pete Stark).

I dont see 10% of the population being athiest/agnostic and only 0.01% of politicians being athiest/agnostic, expecially when they tend to be more educated than the genral population. It makes sense to me that there are athiests politicians who claim Christianity for political gain, knowing that being an open athiest could be political suicide.

I'm more in favour of NZ voters view on religion in politics.

A politician who is overtly religious or atheistic here is at a slight disadvantage to one whos views are private or uncertain. A politician who bases any of their policy on their religious views is at a major disadvantage.

I think politics and religion should stay seperate. Last time they went together many people died in the crusades.
