Forums - Nintendo - Question about Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

I'm just starting the game, and got past the opening cinematics. I feel lost. Do I need to play Kingdom Hearts to know what's going on here storylinewise?

Oh God yes.

Absolutely. It's like if you came into Star Wars by watching Empire first.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Ok fine. Then I need one of two things. Either someone buy me a PS2 or just catch me up to the point where this game starts.

Even after playing and loving the original, Kingdom Hearts 2's plot made almost no sense to me. I highly suggest playing the first one, but the best you can do now is read here:

So this takes place after Kingdom Hearts 2? I thought it was shoved somewhere in the middle.

It takes place between KH and KH2, and at the same time as Chain of Memories (since you play as a different character).

It takes place between 1 and 2, but you'll need to know the storyline about #2 to really get what's going on.

wikipedia is one way to go, but you'd really want to play them on the ps2. Great storyline + entertaining.

I'm sure you have 140 dollars stashed away somewhere!

I just read the wikipedia entry, and the story there doesn't seem to signify anything about this game yet. The only thing I've figured is that Roxas is the character Sora from the first game, and he has amnesia now(what an original concept ). Can someone explain to me what happened to lead to him joining the organization he's in?

I do actually, but I'm not that into the series to invest in it right now with all of the goodness coming out this fall.
