Forums - Gaming - Super street FIGHTER 4, part TWO!!

So, the ssf4 update is confirmed and is going to be on it's own disc for retail.

http://kotaku.com/5369773/super-street-fighter-iv-confirmed-is-standalone-title

You get something extra for owning both games, but....kinda sucks that not only is it being released so soon, but it's not a fully complete game on it's own either.

hmm i thought that ssf4 thread by the bat was a few days ago...

O well, I had better info.

Just lock this, I guess.

How is it not a fully complete game?

Confirmed by Famitsu

Juri's likes include big tits.

I am not joking.

It's not a complete game because you need to have the normal SSF4 in order to get what Capcom is hinting at to be a super special extra, which is probably another character.

That doesn't matter, it's still a complete game and in light of what you meant, I vote this thread be closed for misinformation.

Your sentence will have people believing that they have to have both copies of the game to play, which is what I originally thought you meant.  In essence, you're negatively effecting the sales of the game to anyone who may read your post without ever getting a proper explanation.

Good job complaining like it seems everyone else can't get enough of.  The game isn't being sold for full retail, Capcom already confirmed this.  I'll be buying this game, and I don't feel ripped off either.  If it's such a big deal to get this 'extra content', go rent SFIV, that's all you should have to do.

wow man, you want this thread closed for misinformation?

Just because you jumped to conclusions doesn't mean it's misinformation. It says in the OP that it is a standalone, but not a complete title.
I'm sorry you feel that way, but for someone like me who remembers SSF2 for the SNES, it was released much later than the original and was a complete game. You didn't need anything extra for what it provided.
You want to know what this is? This is a marketing scheme.
They released SSF4 for 60$+ and did a half assed job on it. A lot of people complained. Now, here we are, (what, 8 months later?) and the same game is coming out, except now, it has 8 more characters. Capcom, for greedy reasons, wants to give people who bought the original a reason to buy the new one. At the same time, they want people who buy the new one to have an incentive to buy the original. And they do want you to buy the original, otherwise they would have made whatever "super special content" DLC. The character is already programmed into the game. You just can't use it. I call BS on that.
The only differences are 8 characters, and some changes to the game mechanics (because of how many angry emails they got). How much do you think this will cost? 30$ I doubt it, after all, it's everything SSF4 is plus more characters, and SSF4 still sells for 40$.
It is probably going to cost 40$. which is at least 25$ than it should have costed as dlc.
I'll still probably be buying it because I like ssf4, but it's really upsetting when you can't get the most out of your game unless you buy some other title.

Caveat: At least when you buy a game like Ratchet and Clank, when you're asked to plug in data from a previous game, it's not that much of a problem because:
a) you're being asked for a save game file, not a game
b) The games are old, and cost about 10$
c) They give you access to a whole slew of items
d) It's not like they are going to be making money on the previous entries since they will most likely be used or borrowed. They are simply trying to strengthen the franchise.

OK! And in no particular order, heeeere we go!

1. You're on crack if you think any Street Fighter has ever released in a perfect form. Every edition has had more than one remake. They didn't do a half-assed job on it, they did the best they can without 5 million testers. Your point there fails. Refer to #6.

2. It's SF4, not SSF4, that's what's coming out that we're talking about.

3. SSF2? Do you really want to go there? Why did you not need anything extra? BECAUSE IT'S SNES. DUH. SNES didn't have unlockable content based on other games, IT WASN'T POSSIBLE.

4. Your complaints about the 'character is already programmed into the game. You just can't use it.' I call BS on that. Yes you can use it, and I already told you how if you weren't paying attention: GO RENT THE ORIGINAL.

5. The only difference isn't 8 new characters. They made game engine revisions as well, which if you're big into Street Fighter - which I am, and a lot of people I know are - that's big news. We feed off of engine revisions because we know the game will perform better. You go ahead and complain, I'm happy it only took them 8 months to fix stuff instead of 2 years.

6. It's not a marketing scheme at all. What is it? It's the Age of Information. Today, information spreads quick. Opinions are easily conveyed and Capcom got a lot more feedback on SFIV than they have by this point on any other Street Fighter before it because of that. What's that mean? They can work on perfecting the game sooner, hence 8 months and a new game is announced. If you really liked Street Fighter and cared how the game played, you'd be very happy with this as opposed to releasing it a year from now.

7. Yeah, I can maybe see your argument about wanting it to be DLC...however, I'm pretty sure they can't alter the game engine through DLC - hence a disk based game. I might be wrong, but prove that I am before you say that I am.

8. your Caveat section fails whole-heartedly. You're basically justifying what you're complaining about with Street Fighter 4, so I don't wanna hear that garbage.

Don't contradict yourself when you argue with me..it makes the debate far too easy.

if a standalone game i will get it. i just wished they had stuck to the old formula. ie every char has his own music and backdrop.
