Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus? What are the differences?

Hey vgc, my mom is interested in the Wii Fit so she asked me to pick one up for her.  And since Wii Fit Plus is coming out, what are the differences between the two?  Are the Wii boards the same? Are the work-outs in the games better/more helpful etc?  In Canada, currently the Wii Fit is $79.99 w/ board, and the new Wii Fit Plus w/ board will be $109.99 ....is Wii Fit Plus worth the extra $30?  Thanks in advance.

I'm fairly sure that Wii Fit + is being sold for $20 (maybe that's just US) but you should be able to get Wii Fit AND Wii Fit + for $110

Buy both for 100$ (80 Wii Fit + 20 WFPlus)...if you have to buy just one, buy WFPlus, it has all the WF exercises but more of them and more games...and the difference is just 10$ with the BB.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Wii fit plus is Wii fit with more games, the board is the same

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

that pricing is kinda wierd. in the US, vanilla wiifit/board is 90 bucks, wiifit+/board is 100, and wiifit+ by itself (if you already bought wiifit) is 20.

i guess it depends on how much wiifit + will be by itself in canada. i don't know what it is.

anayway, about what wiifit+ has, it has more excerises and games than the regular, it can tell you how many calories you burned, and you can set up a routine of multiple excersises so you don't have to waste time going through tons of menu's to goto a different exersice. you can also pick a part of the body you want to work on (thighs, stomach, ect) and it will make a routine for you that will really work that part of the body.

come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1

Sorry for another post, i have an idea for you: buy oth at 100$ and then sell the original Wii Fit for more than 10$ on the internet: in this way you'll pay less than buying WFPlus alone :P

Wii Fit Plus has everything Wii Fit has, and some new stuff.

It has some more exercises in every category.

It has some more balance games, like the birdman one (you flap your arms to fly from cliff to cliff, landing on targets Pilotwings style), the butt-math one (you hit numbers with your butt and hips to reach a certain sum), and a platformer one (you run and jump over some cliffs).

But the main new feature is that you can customize an entire workout. You can select several exercises, put them in the order you want, and start the whole thing. In the original Wii Fit, you have to pick an exercise, do it, go back to the menu, pick another exercise, do it, go back to the menu. So half your workout is clicking buttons in between exercises. I'd much rather just press one button and do my whole workout, everything in a row.

To me, this one new feature is worth the purchase and the price difference. But new exercises and new games is awesome too.

what RubangB said. Go with Wii Fit Plus. The extra money will be well worth it. I don't even use Wii Fit for exercise now that I use EA Sports Active which is much better due to the routines. Wii Fit Plus may convince me to pick it up and use it as variation from the norm and keep things interesting.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I hear EA Active is tough at first. That's the number 1 complaint I hear about it. Customers love Wii Fit. And just for the record, my customers at work hate Jillian Michaels (I think that's her name) and think she's a bitch in her Wii game. x.o

EA Sports Active is tough, but that just shows that it really is working. After doing 1 30-day challenge, I went from medium intensity to high intensity and I could actually do it. EA Sports Active actually forces you to put effort into your exercise. Wii Fit doesn't do this and makes it too eazy to do simple exercises without pushing yourself. Both can have the same results, but Wii Fit doesn't force you to improve. Wii Fit + may fix this, but I doubt it.

And I've heard that the Jillian Michaels game is crap.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
