Forums - Sony - Questions about the PSP?

Okay, so i'm thinking about getting the GO! since I've never had a PSP. It looks compact enough for me, and i really like the look. But the downloading thing is what I have questions on.

So if i get a PSP GO can I download the PSP games to my PS3 and then move them over the the PSP. And how would i do that? Would it be using the USB cable that comes with the PSP GO. I don't have Wi-Fi in my house so i can't use that. I mean i could get Wi-Fi to work, i have the tools to do it but I don't know how to set it up.

Also the connectivity to the PS3, do i have to have Wi-Fi to connect my PSP to the PS3? Or can it do it without that. I'm sure it will be the same as the other PSP's but I don't know how the other PSP's do it.

Thanks for any help.

Yes it would be Via USB Cable to switch games from the PS3 to PSP or Vice Versa.

You need Wi-Fi, no way around that unless its by a local area connection of sorts.

Thanks for any help.

Also why get the Go? its more expensive right?

You can download games on your PS3 and get them via wireless or USB I'm pretty sure. Your PS3 will act as a wireless hub for the PSP, if you have the PS3 wired to the internet -- you don't need a separate wireless hub or any such thing -- the PS3 will act as one.

You can also get games via a PC/USB, or with a direct wireless connection.

I have a treasure trove of PSOne classics, and a few PSP games, lined up for my new Go already (they won't fit on my PSP-2000, and heck if I'm going to blow that money on old mem sticks for it, instead)... Oct. 1 is almost upon us!

@Seraphi_Sixaxis Thanks, and about the GO. It is a lot smaller than the PSP-3000, it would fit in my pocket easier. I wouldn't have the bulky one. Also I really like the way it looks, I like the sliding screen on it. I'm not getting it right when it comes out. I may wait and see what the PSP-4000 will be since i heard of that.

@Procrastinatio also thanks

Yes. PSP Games, Demos, Themes, Wallpapers, PS1 games, you can download them all with your PS3 and copy them to you PSP through USB.

Are you talking about remote-play? You can connect with remote-play without wi-fi. This is when you want to connect PS3 and PSP DIRECTLY though. So unless you're gonna stay in the same room as the system, you're gonna get some lag that would make most games unplayable during remote-play. Go too far and your video's and music will start skipping. We won't really know if this has improved with the Go. However if you're away from home and find a wi-fi spot and you've set your PS3 to remote start, it will work just fine. You're PS3 doesn't have to be set up through a wi-fi connection as well, of course.

Thanks, Yeah, i was talking about remote-play. So i don't need wi-fi at all for it, it will only be laggy. I'm sure i will use wi-fi where i can at other places, as long as it is free.

Also about your last sentence, do you mean "Does" or "Doesn't." Does it need a wifi connection or it doesn't need a wifi connection to use remote start?

Does not need a wi-fi connection for remote start. Once you have a wifi source for the PSP or you're close enough to the PS3 with it, you're fine.

I wondered about this, this morning, so I tried it: In USB mode, music and photos can be viewed from the PSP to........the XBox 360!! No bullshit. I'm going to try video, later. I doubt it'll work. Still, downloading music and pics from the net, porting them to my PSP, and then migrating them to my 369 (I'm going to make the best custom playlists, EVER) is unexpected and pretty sweet.

I wonder if PS3 themes work, too......

^^^ Did you know that the Playstation Eye works in the 360 as a mic just fine?

As for the PS3 THemes... nah.
