@Montana: I don't see any similarity whatsoever between this phenomenon and the janissaries. These are Westerners who freely adopt the most violent interpretation of Islam possible, not some unfortunate kids who were conscripted and converted at sword point.

There's a world of difference between the Ottoman Empire stealing Christian children and free Germans, Brits, Frenchmen, Americans, etc. taking up arms against their own countries in the cause of jihad. The former is something that has historically happened to conquered peoples, and the latter is the dark side of globalism and multiculturalism.

Village of white germans? The article says most of them are of North African descent and only mentions a single white guy. What's with the white focus?  Why you gotta be gett'n so racist halogamer?

It did sound as if they're mostly immigrants to Germany or the children of immigrants, but the headline is from the Daily Telegraph itself, not halogamer's concoction.

But if Halogamer actually read the article, he'd notice the headline was purely sensationalist journalism and wouldn't duplicate the article title for a thread title.

Yeah a few Germans, where in this article does it give an indication of how many? It doesn't, it gives ambiguous figures such as "a growing amount". Of course they know the figure of Germans in Al-Qaeda, it's probably only up in the dozens so that's why they are being needlessly ambiguous to give you the impression that it's much more. I bet I the number of Al-Qaeda members from the USA is more than Germany.

What I think has happened is Halogamer read the word "German" and took it as "Well they were in WWI and WWII, so if they get involved here it is WWIII", when it's not.

I took it as a response to those who claim that we are fighting just random Arab/Afghan nomads.  We are not and this is global.  I will ignore your criticisms of me b/c it makes you look like an ass and not me.
