No. I'm one of the, if not the, smartest kid in my class, people tend to say that I am extremely smart for some inexplicable reason and they looked at me all funny when I said the synonym for the word unnecessary with "flu" in it was superfulous.

I can't imagine why.

You make youself sounds like a kid in my English class. We were assigned to do a project explaining the definition of a word each, and he came up with an ingenious story about pirates with the word salvage.

No one wanted to come after him, because they couldn't follow it up. lol

You mean you had to make up a story for the etymology?

Also, how does that relate to me?

And how did I screw up my second to last sentence so badly!?

Not necceseraly a story, we all made posters and small pictures.

It has to do with you because of the bolded part.

Okay...?

I didn't know that making up a story about pirates for a word definition was considered smart nowadays.

Look! It's the word affluent! The pirates buried their material affluence in the ocean floor!

One would assume that humour played a bit of a role in there, something that some people miss out on.

Um, I dunno. Like in grades and stuff? Life?

I think I'm above average.

I mean never stood out of the crowd in general, across all fields and disciplines there is nothing you've excelled at.

For example I've always achieved good grades and I'm currently doing a masters degree at university. But I can hardly say I've ever stood out of the crowd in anything.

If that's your definition.

Then No.  I actually had a class and field where I had they "Keys of the Kingdom" so to speak.  Impressed someone so much I likely had a job sitting at the most successful company in my city waiting.

Didn't go through with it though because I didn't think i'd like it.

So at the moment i'm living a "mediocre" life.

I'd rather be happy, poor and mediocre then spectacular, rich and unhappy.

Well thats the ting though, why do people assume you can't be rich and happy? Why is it one or the other?

You can be rich and happy.  Like Bill Gates, or Warren Buffet etc.

However to be rich and happy you need to like what you do.  Or be willing to quit shortly after making a bunch of money.

I probably wouldn't of enjoyed what I would do.  And I'm not the type of person to quit a job that pays me millions per year.

if by mediocre you mean at exams, tests, video games, sports, pretty much anything, have 0 talents, then yes, yes I am mediocre

Nope not mediocre at all, even if I was I wouldn't give up until I achieved my dreams.

There's no such thing as being mediocre, just not working hard enough or not being daring enough to try new things. I wasn't born with any more talent than anyone else, but I did well in school and I am working towards being a veterinarian.

Discipline is key.

What if you don't have a dream in the first place? O.o Even if we are hard working, there's nothing to work hard for.

^I honestly did a 300 word essay last week about dreams vs. working hard.

Let's just say working hard won.
