I've got to say that very few people vew things the way you do. Probably no-one in the entire Xbox team thinks the way you do.

I HATED the Xbox at first. When I saw those GOD DAMN Malice screens (you know what I'm talking about) I was gr33n with envy. I knew my PS2 couldn't do that. That's the effect MS chose to propel itself into the market along with Live and Halo etc. They did a fcuking brilliant job in hindsight. I live in South Africa and 4 of my friends have 360's. Only my rich brother has a PS3. I wouldn't underestimate MS's strategy. I might not have been the biggest fan, but they have a plan and it seems to be working.

Anyway, this thread's gone beyond repair now. (GOD I LOVE VGCHARTZ!)

What you said can only happen If Ps3 and Xbox360 would stay on the market for the same time. What if the PS3 would stay 1 year longer on the market or would sell 1 year longer. I think Sony wont be the first to release a new console and even if they would release a console the PS3 probably wouldnt stop selling. The year headstart doesnt matter becuase the life of a console isnt always the same. The PS2 still lives while the Xbox is dead a long long time. Especially if Sony truly follows their 10 year life span and the Xbox 360 would only stay 8 years on the market . Maybe the PS3 will win in the last 2 years the Race could the Ms Fans say that the PS3 is second because in the 8 years the Xbox stayed on the Market the PS3 never was ahead the Xbox ? In the End are only numbers that count Facts nothing else.

It's easy:

Sony lost this gen.
Even if the PS3 would sell 10 or 30 million more than Xbox360 at the end of this gen... Sony lost.
Why?

Mindshare and marketshare from previous generations.
Look:

LAST GEN:

PS2 = 130 million consoles.
Xbox = 25 million consoles.

A tremendous lead of 105 million consoles.


THIS GEN (after 4 years into this gen):

PS3 = 25 million
Xbox 360 = 32 million

Complete failure from Sony, even if from now on they would sell more PS3 than 360 until the end.
There is no way they can step up to last gen.
In the head of gamers: Console gaming "no more ="  Sony.
Sony lost his leader rank. The past 15 years, gaming was = Sony.

Nintendo won, no matter what.
Microsoft won, no matter what.


You must look a the big picture, just like shareholders do.
Sony went downhill from 2006.

3rd place is 3rd place. plain and simple. this generation console war ends when ALL the consoles are no longer being manufactured. the wii coudl stop tmrw and eventually the ps3 and 360 will pass it in sales and then the wii came 3rd. even tho it was more succesfull while it was around

If PS3 catches the 360 I will admit that the Wii is a good console.

The PS2 still sells... actually it may have outsold the X360 so far this gen? Someone who cares, tack those onto the home consoles Sony has sold since the start of "this gen" and make some more wierd conclusions, so we can continue this silly thread. =)

When most people can agree that one console had the best games of it's gen. SNES, PS1, PS2 all had the best games and were better than the competition by a HUGE distance. This gen it's all over the place. 360 and PS3 have better quality games according to Meta and Gamerankings. And the Wii is a very odd thing as a lot of people would say that in terms of quality games it doesn't live up to PS360

Console Wars will never end.

The console war will get closure when Bobby Kotick executes his plan to take over the entire gaming world, becoming the object of hate for all gamers and uniting them, and dying with all the sins of the world on his shoulders.

1st, 2nd, and .......3rd.  In the end, that is all that matters.  The rest are just excuses, and opinions. 

I have all 3 consoles so......regardless......my console wins....
