The good thing about message boards is that it's all documented. and it's all in the first post. Of course some people will admit the obvious if Wii or PS3 show a clear sign of victory, but we can't say we made the right prediction a few weeks ago. A lot of us said PS3 even after the huge explanations on why the Wii price drop will change the entire Japanese market around in favor of the Wii, so we wont pretend we didn't say it.

FF13 won't sell anywhere as much as you're thinking, its going to sell much less than FFX

Even lifetime, that seems a bit tough.  I mean, it's only selling about as well as a "failed" Wii in it's absolute best year, I'm not sure you can really expect the machine to double it's userbase after 3 years on market.  Saturn didn't, N64 didn't, GameCube didn't, and those are the platforms whose JP sales align most closely with PS3 (GC slightly under, N64/SS a bit ahead).

FFXIII is PS3's biggest game, I'm not sure there's anything possible on the horizon that to keep it from being downhill afterwards.  Maybe FFXV?  It's not getting DQ or MH...

And weren't we right to doubt ioi? I respect him as an analyst but just about every prediction of his so far has been wrong. PS3 dropping below 20k in a few weeks. No big games aside Final Fantasy XIII compared to Wii's lineup, Wii beating PS3 every week after the price drop. All of those are inaccurate predictions. He may win this bet but he certainly wasn't right about everything, I doubt anyone in this thread is. I'm gonna go ahead and say once again that the two of you are wrong about FFXIII as well.

Are you also saying MC and Famitsu are wrong, because they are the ones who said it wouldn't sell 2 million in Japan lifetime

I think FFXIII will hit 2m lifetime in Japan. Frankly it'd be a huge upset if it didn't, and I also think Famitsu's underestimating it.

NSMBWii won't sell anywhere near as much as you expect. See, I can do that too. I know you want FFXIII (and, conversely, the PS3) to fail hard but I don't think it will. 

Actually, PS3 will be 4M+ already by the end of November and probably 4.5M+ by the end of this year.

Saturn, N64, GC didn`t have such great 3rd party support as PS3 has. For 2010 alone:

FFXIV, SO4 International, Front Mission Evolved, Yakuza 4, Ar Tonelico 3, Trinity: Zill'Ol, Nier, Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2, Super Street Fighter 4, Metal Gear Solid Rising, Sengoku Basara 3, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows, Dinasty Warriors: Troy, First of the North Star, End of Eternity, FFXIIIv, White Album, Last Rebellion, Quantum Theory, RE5: Alternate Edition.

And that are only announced games. Not to mention 1st and 2nd party PS3 games. GT5 also will keep PS3 momentum.

if you check the recent Famitsu predictions for sales, Samurai Warrior 3 didn't even make their list.

Same with the prediction of the major Japanese retailer that were posted today.

So I woudn't expect much from that title..
