Good for PS3 if it grows in Japan and narrows the gap, but let's not forget there's still a 28+M gap WW.

Update time...  Wii outsold PS3 for the first time this week and its cumulative total since the thread start date is now higher than the same period in 2008.

Wii　27000
PS3　27000

Not as good as i expected for PS3, but atleast Wii is not outselling it.
So far, PS3 still has some advantage, as Wii is not doing good too, like some people expected after pricecut.

^^^ Last year at this time, anything over 20K was good, why is 27k not good now? What were you expecting?

^^^ Last year they both didn`t have pricecuts. So, after console is getting a pricecut, you would expect it selling better.

The other thing, PS3 is on 7th week since pricecut, Wii on 3rd.
Competition is a good thing.

So far, it`s now only about games, how much they will push new HW units.

@ioi - i think, it`s more important about total sales, and who will reach it`s goal first, rather than being correct on weekly basis sales. Those November Wii sales boost from games will move just to December. I don`t think, that cumulative sales will change that much. But if you want, then change those numbers, i still think PS3 has chances to get to 5 mln. first. Maybe not fast as i expected, but definitely till the end of March.

weekly sales are much closer than I expected. PS3 should still win this competition though, just not this year.

Only because PS3 couldn`t hold 40k+ sales for the rest of year, it doesn`t mean, it won`t be selling a lot during Christmas period.

And i think, you really underestimate Tekken 6 and Bayonetta selling power.
Though, next week i don`t expect high sales too.

I don`t expect huge boost from NSMB, mainly because, Wii already had around 5 huge games released. Huge i mean, which sold 1-2+ mln. copies.
That`s why FFXIII, first huge PS3 game in Japan, will push more PS3 units.

Also you forget, that Wii sales were declining year to year. There is a possibility, that Wii already saturated Japan market at some point.
Anyway, we will see.

So far, after 4 weeks sales data, i overestimated PS3 sales and you overestimated Wii sales.
