Forums - Sony - Is the xmb dull? I think not.. but?

No it's not dull at all. How can it be when you can put all kinds of wallpapers and themes on it of your liking. You can make your own themes too. I sometimes put sexy women on mine. I love seeing different boobs on my PS3 every week. XD

I think the XMB is fine and some of the 3.0 changes were nice. Seeing the new sparkle background with a dark blue background is just great on our HDTV. I didn't like the larger font change since I never had a problem with it on my TV and my other annoyance is that now if you stop moving, all the other icons will fade out until you start moving again.

I know, but I want something like Sackboy. The Wipeout one became rather boring after a short time.

Oh well, free official themes or user made standard themes it is.


I'm sure you can find $3 lying around some where or you can ask someone on your friends list if they can be nice enough to give it to you for free.

The wipeout DT was cool for a maximum time of 3 minutes. I went back to my God of War III wallpaper.

Does the Japanese store have any free ones? I'm to lazy to dig through the store to find them. Not being able to read Japanese doesn't help.

I agree with your first statement. Heck it's better than windows desktop interface with the video stuff :p

 

I have the free wipeout one. What others are free ? and whur ?

 

The free wipeout one is awesome btw. I want a uncharted 2 one though :P

i really like the xmb before 3.00. i cant have sparkles with black backround. puting the ps3 store in stupid places. lets press start to play a game but wait...... u needa put the disc in... stupid orange thing amn get the f out of here

xmb represented og ps3s classiness/high tech/rich feel but not with slim. ive seen the 360 dashboard and its real cluttered

You can switch back to the original theme without the sparkles in the themes menu.

i know this is off topic but should i be outputting in 720p or 1080p? i only check 1080p and the xmb looks better in 1080p but games like uncharted 2 beta on 1080p looks bad. the edges of things flickers and so with very detailed surfaces like the poles in ice cave where u spawn.

when i only check 720p the xmb looks fuzzy but games look better. is it my hdmi cable or tv or should i check 720 and 1080p? what about 1080i

If you only have 1080p checked, then any game that doesn't support 1080p will downscale to 480p so it'd be better to leave all the resolutions checked so it can automatically switch resolutions when it needs to. If your TV supports 720p and 1080p, then you wouldn't need to bother with 1080i and could leave it unchecked.
