Forums - Microsoft - I'm buying a 360!

the no warranty factor is a big risk with PS360 since both of them tend to break (even if not very often, they still do)

Yeah... but there's no other way around it, it's the same with nintendo here, none of the companies has "released" so everything is import and no warranty.

I just spoke to a friend who's comming from the us in about 10 days and I'll get him to bring the xbox and the games (also: 3 wireless controllers) so it'll have warranty, only that i don't think I'll be able to use it...

Get Mass Effect, the story is the best f***ing thing i've ever seen in a video game.
BTW dw about it breaking. I personally don't know anyone who has had RROD or whatever..i wouldn't even know about it if it wasn't for the internet. The late September 2008 models are all pretty reliable from what i've heard.

Maybe, since Microsoft has there own warranty, your system is still covered if you register with Xbox.com? I don't know. You may want to give them a call and see if they'll still fix a system if you ship it from Bolivia.

HDMI is a standard in all current 360s. For most people, it's hard to tell the difference, but people with bigger HDTVs can see it easier. If you have HDMI hooked, the darks will look better.

Also, since your 360 is purchased from the US, just hold on to the receipt and if your 360 ever RRODs and your friend lives in the US, have him get it fixed for you. You probably wouldn't even need the receipt, since they go by the serial numbers, I've heard. I've never had a RROD, even on my launch console. The DVD Drive did go bad, but that's my fault, played Fable II for 3 days straight without turning it off. I recommend you to install games before you play (except Halo 3/ODST).

I think you better be prepared for RROD, and save some more money to buy a replacment. I cant see yours getting fixed in Bolivia if it fails.

it is better that you read more about Xbox and PS3 before making a decsion,

ms wont replace rrod in Bolivia? that is not fair!

Oh, and to keep your Xbox in top condition (like my launch 360)

- Put it in a ventilated spot. It needs acess to new air to cool it off all the time, never put it in an enclosed space, not even in a bookshelf. I guess this is extra important since you live in a warm country.

- Always take out your games before turning it off.

- Never move it when it's on. preferrably, don't even touch it until you have turned it off.

- the power brick is warm, so don't have it close to the console-

- Pray to Bill Gates that it won't redring xD

I LOVE ICELAND!

Nice good choice, you won't regret it.

keep the receipt from the US, and if it breaks just mail it back to your friend and it'll be covered under warranty. It'll suck as you'll have to pay for some fairly expensive shipping vs. it being free if you were in the US, but you should still be covered. If you didn't have someone in the US you would be screwed though.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Ok, I live in bolivia, so money is sort of an issue here, but, i just finished a project and should be touching a bonus. Last time I did I bought a 37 inch HD TV and I want something to show off my screen ever since

With the money I'll be getting I should have enough to buy an Xbox 360 and about 5 games (no PS3 boys, it costs 600$ here!! nothing against it though)

So... any games I MUST buy, I never liked Halo (played the first one), besides internet in Bolivia is just to crappy to play online.. should I give Halo 3 another chance? I must admit, I'm looking forward to something that will look good on my screen, because upscaled DVDs are nice, but i feel like I'm missing out!

I was definitely thinking about GeOW and GeOW2... now please some advice!!

Oh, and finally, I'm a little affraid of RROD, since there's no warranty over here, anything I should/shouldn't do?

I don't want to sound like an idiot but, if money is an issue and you don't have an intention of playing online, would pirating be the best option. I know its killing the industry and all etc etc. From a personal view for what you want its probably the best option.
