BTW this poll will not end well. This site consist of 25% Wii fans, 25% 360 and 50% PS3 fans. Thats why all these poll either goes bad for 360 or goes really well for the PS3.

It was because of the ads and people playing the other ones.

I can't vote unless you add the option:
ALL OF THESE ANSWERS
Neoraf, just vote for the one that you think had the biggest impact. Then if you want you can leave a comment explaining why you think all of the choices were important.
Still not getting many comments in this one, despite the poll getting a good number of votes. I really need some comments with more detailed reasons on what people think to include in the article tomorrow.
Well... I'd say the following were the factors:
1 - 360 benefiting from Xbox (particularly in US and UK) starting trend towards playing PC centric FPS and MP games on a console, and therefore becoming the console of choice for online FPS
2 - Halo franchise popularity is on an upwards curve due to this increasing penetration of 360 into what was formerly a PC focused player base, and Halo is the flagship title associated with that
3 - Increase brand awareness and identification of Halo 3 as the obligatory FPS and online MP title for 360 - as a result, a large percentage of 360 purchases will get the game where other titles have dropped from focus to be replaced by newer titles
4 - Shift in the title itself from SP to MP, with Halo 3 really representing an almost exclusively MP orientated title with a short SP campaign tacked on, making Halo 3 a huge ongoing proposition on the 360 with the title almost always the number 1 Live title being played.
5 - It's good (not that good compared to other FPS/MP titles out there, but that's what's interesting) and more importantly it has the marketing and image to compliment it's strong gameplay
EDIT 6 - Huge marketing push, sustained via books, figurines, etc. really pushing the Halo 'Universe' (thanks to the others who reminded me I forgot to add this important point).
So I voted the growth of the franchise as the closet poll choice, although as you can see I believe it was a combination of factors.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
Nice explanation Reasonable. We need more comments like that, especially people who can strongly argue in support for one choice. Also we need more votes, the polls are getting more votes now that the articles are going up, but I'm hoping 100 votes will be the new minimum # of votes by the time I start the article write up. Right now we are at 73.
Well, the franchise was gaining momentum, but I don't really think that can be attributed to just being on the 360, I don't think the install base was that much larger at launch than Halo 2's was, though I could be wrong. Do I think the game would've increased sales if Microsoft didn't advertise it like there was no tomorrow? Probably, but I think the ads convinced a lot of people that this was not a game to miss. Of course, then you have word of mouth, which has given it legs for two years now, also elevating it into the stratosphere now, over 10 million.
I didn't get many comments or votes in the poll, only up to 80 now and I would really like to get to 100 by the time I start writing the article in about 12 hours. Also there are still very few comments for me to choose from to feature in the article, so if you feel you can justify your vote please do so.
Ok, one more try at getting votes. Currently at 85, so 15 to go to cross the 100 mark, and the poll is going to be disabled in an hour. So please vote, then leave a comment so that I can have more comments to choose from for which will be included in the article, and so more people will see this thread and vote.
