Can't really argue with the guy, at this point. The guy didn't really exaggerate much. It did grab me by the balls with its first cutscene.

Without debating the actual story, I have no doubt, having played both, that Uncharted is far better at how it presents the story and balances cutscenes and gameplay - in particular avoiding the way MGS titles tend to have overly extended episodes of exposition and attaining a better cinematic feel in terms of narrative structure.

Both tell good stories, but I have no doubt Uncharted 2 tells its story with better skill.  It's interesting to see the attention on the title's storytelling outside games press and sites.

I think both are awesome but uncharted integrates more as a whole..... the fact that theres no loading also helps :p that's my opinion anyways. Very smooth experience.

I think that metal gear solid is very dramatic.. Still awesome though. MGS4 is also one of the best games ever.

Oh, no way this is the best story ever told! It's too cliche and predictable. But the way it plays out? Right up there with Prince of Persia, Half Life/Portal, and Indigo Prophecy as to how the story is told. The dialog is among the best. The cutscenes blend with the gameplay, flawlessly and never ever jar you from the experience.

I don't think they're talking about the story itself - at least I'm presuming not.  I believe they're referring, as you do, to the way Uncharted 2 tells its story.  I'm normally pretty critical, as a big literature and cinema fan, of how stories are told in videogames, but I have to hand it to ND - Uncharted 2 is hands down, out of all the games I've played, offering the most slick, stylish use of dialogue, cut-scenes and gameplay so far.

Still, I'd certainly rate it's story above that of the latest Indiana Jones - maybe for Uncharted 3 ND could aim for Raiders levels of brilliance.

Yeah, I know.  I was actually trying to reply to  CGI. I was just too slow! In my opinion, MGS 3 has the best story.  It's just the way that Uncharted pulled it off that is heads and shoulders above anything I ever expected.  I was typing while reading a book with my little girl, that's why I was probably a little unclear.  My last few posts before this one should clarify.

This thread was made almost a month ago.  I just bumped it up, to get impressions, since now we've actually seen it for ourselves.  I'm actually eating a little crow by bringing it back!

Uncharted 2 is leaps and bounds ahead of MGS4 in terms of story telling. MGS4 still has the better story though, no question.

Honestly, I think this review is quite accurate. Uncharted 2 really has the most well told story, and an incredibly well-paced gameplay to boot!

Where have you been? I don't know a single person who hasn't said that Uncharted 2 is greater than Uncharted 1 in almost every way, story included. Now go play the god damn game before you get into trouble!

Oh, I just misunderstood your last sentence then. I thought you were emphasizing the storytelling over the story.
