Man I wish they would continue to make the 60gb ps3. I really want it. Its the best deal but I dont have the money now. Its like Im in a situation where if I dont get one soon I wont get it at all. I think its a lucky situation sony is in to get people to buy the ps3 sooner.

Who in their right mind would buy the 40gig and then a game seperatly when that would cost the same as a 60 gig including another game for nothing! Some stores were also offering an additional 2 blueray movies too.

A friend of mine saw the price cut and it got his attention, went to the store to get one and saw the deals were so much better value so ended up geting the 60 anyway. Had sony not promoted the 40gig value package he wouldnt have even gone into the store. 

1) One week of sales = flop?
2) I'll wait until a more trusted data collector says these are sales.

A 50 Euro difference gets you two free games, an extra controller and 20gb more on the hard drive in addition to playing PS2 games. Why wouldn't they snap up the 60gb instead of the 40gb while it's still available? It's hard to call the 40gb a flop when there's a much better deal for only a bit more money. The 40gb won't really sell until the starter packs have cleared out.

It was just 1 day out... OFCOURSE ITS GOING TO ONLY SELL 15K, 1 DAY OUT.

Besides you get an extra controller and 2 more games and 20gigs more of dsc space for $100.oo buks more. Simple to what I would pick.

If Sony doesn't launch a model to replace the 60 GB one, I think we'll see sales decreasing! Either that or they'll make a "40 GB starter pack" which gives people some incentive to spend 400 €.

Where was it out for only 1 day? In many countries it was out for at least 3 days, in UK it was out for 5 I believe. Did you just pull that "fact" out of where the sun doesn't shine?

Release date october 12th...

 It's been out for a short amount of time, but sales of the PS3 boosted quite a bit.  Most people assumed it was the new 40 GB.

This thread exists to state it's not the new SKU selling, but the old one has the sales boost...because of reasons stated here already...people go in for the new price, but then see it sucks compared to the 60 GB deal, so they buy that.  Also, I'm guessing some are buying the 60 GB versions before they disappear.
