That was funny .. but seriously that can't be right . How would the driver accomplish this in a real car? I thought forza was a sim ....

I have Forza 2 but I have never played it. Does it have the same thing?

Don't get confused between the difference between a driving sim and a crashing/collision sim.  Forza 3 (nor any othet race game) does not simulate a crash/collision. Hitting anything at a 100+mph is not ever a pretty sight.

A Nascar driver learned this the hard way. While  some drivers claimed the EA Sport Nascar help them improve on some track in RL (like Pocono) one tried to ride the wall  to pass as he did in the game. Of course it didn't work as he did a lot more  damage to his car than in the game.

Collisions in racing games are as gamey as auto heal in FPS.

P.S I didn't realize that there was a Forza 3 article that claims "realistic crash damage".  Realistically if a car going that fast hit a wall it would no longer look like a car. Is there any video of this "realistic crash damage"?

Well that's the kind of in the box thinking that will result in full simulation never making it into games.  In order to simulate a physics event you can deal with things in several ways.  The current thinking is that the amount of power taken to accurately model a crash in realtime is astronomical so you're right that what we have currently is "cheating" damage modelling.  This is of course where algorithms guestimate a preset damage level based on certain factors involving the accident.  This is of course why many declare Forza's driving model to be a better simulation than GT's currently though too.  Rather than simply guestimate the levels of grip a car has Turn 10 created a entire tyre model to remove the rough guestimation.

Either method can trick the gamer into thinking what they're experiencing is close to reality but only one will ever be able to progress onto full accurate simulation.  The downside to Turn 10's method is for some reason they feel unable to extend their tyre model to the complexities of wet weather racing, this is a creative decision they made that one feature was more important than another in their case just like PD in the past with their reluctance to add any damage to their games.  I would rather have a unrealistic damage in my games though that at least punishes bad drivers so I'm glad PD have made the choice to include it on all cars now (even if it's just physics based and not visual).

What ultimately matters is that GT5 and FM3 are two games in the same genre but created with completely different visions of what they should be, neither vision is right or wrong for everybody though and hence there can never be a decisive victor.  People will continue to argue over both games, I personally will enjoy both for the great and thankfully different games they'll be.

Just saw this elsewhere and noticed that Forza blacks out the windshield on gameplay so they dont show any interior.

Does Forza 3 have any convertibles?

The author usually posts pro-PS3 articles, so inb4bias accusations and such.

Then this is worse than I thought...

Anyway, can`t wait for them both...no matter what console you have, you will be racing this Xmass...unless you have a ps3.

GT5 is in 2010...how unlucky for ps3 owners...

OMG OMG

NFS Shift CONFIRMEd to be Xbox 360 exclusive?

_____

Isn't this the same BS site that spewed rubbish about how PS3 fanboys are the worst bla bla bla?

It's the same. Jim Sterling is the one who wrote that article, and all the other various "Sony sucks BUT I'M NOT A HATER!" articles. But it's not only him. Destructoid is just generally crap. Like their "10 reasons why Prototype is better than inFamous" article. It was apparently "a joke". Apparently, they don't realise that a joke article should be funny, and not filled with crappy filler like "Everything is the same case, not like inFamous".

This seems like a fair-ish comparison, but then Destructoid never have anything good to say about Sony (or Nintendo for that matter) so whatever.

You know, I am quite impressed with this thread. Considering the controversial material (namely an editor saying anything but Forza 3 sucks), it only took two pages for the author's character  to come into question. Nevermind the fact that it's, you know, an opinion, and he's entitled to it as much as the next person, or that someone several replies prior to this one stated that the writer has shot out some PRO sony pieces in his past, it just has to come to this.

I've read how many threads on here knocking the arrogance of Turn 10 and how lackluster the game is going to be ,yet when someone from the media industry says contrary to our well informed, fan boy ways, we backlash with every possible piece of evidence meant to comfort your game of choice.

Basically what we've reduced this to  is another case of screenshot pimping. Sigh, such is the case with most GT5 vs Forza threads. Can I sleep in some sort of hyperbolic chamber until the two are released? Please? It's worse than when KZ2 came out and we saw dozens of "Halo ez dead" entries.

If only Sony fanboys could actually back up their words with exclusive  software sales, then we'd be golden. Fortunately for Turn 10, if we're going on past performance, then Forza 3 has nothing to worry about.

Erm turn 10 sold badly at launch was bundled heavily and price was dirt cheap in 6 months. Forza was basically dumped and spammed as much as it could be. it will be a resistance story every1 bought resistance coz they was nothing to play and it was bundled heavily and the sequel could not quite pull its wait, still sold almost 2 million though.

PS3 Platform has a different Demographic that is quite Balanced unlike 360

Heavenly Sword 1.5 million
Uncharted 2.7 million
GT prologue 4 million
Little Big Planet 2.3 million
Infamous 1 million
Resistance 1 . 3.67 million
Resistance 2 1.7 million
Haze 700k
Lair 700k
Motorstorm 3.6 Million
Motorstorm 2 700k
Wipeout HD 800k
Warhawk 1 million

Compare that to Xbox 360 exclusives

Halo 3 10.5 Million
Gears 5.5 Million
Gears 2 5.5 Million
Fable 4.0 Million
Forza 4.0 Million
Left for Dead 1 5 Million

Please add more games if you disagree but most of these games are shooters and they all sell consistently well why? because xbox is mostly hardcore and is not as diversified as sony so all those people who liked halo will by gears, its that simple if you factor in the fact that xbox has 8 million more consoles but ea games generally sell better on ps3 except madden, what does that tell you?

There PS3 Audience is very diversified. That is why alot of niche games do alot better on ps3, eg demon souls, ridge racer .

Im sorry for constantly bashing turn 10 but they incense me to no end, if they just shut up and talk about their game it would have been better
