Forums - Sales - PSP Hardware Sales...

Just a little update.

On the 27th September, the PSP worldwide hardware sales sat proudly at 23.37m.  I reckoned at the time that the PSP Slim & Lite would help the PSP sell just over 1m units in 6 weeks.  See post below.

"I reckon going on numbers on this site at the moment.  The PSP has sold 23.37m worldwide.  I reckon that the number will be above 24.5m by the end of October, which can be looked at being 6 weeks since the release of the Slim & Lite.

My ideas are:

In Japan, from today, the PSP will sell between 450,000 and 500,000 by the end of October, so total numbers in Japan being between 6.56m and 6.61m

In NA, from today, the PSP will sell between 300,000 and 400,000 by the end of October, so total numbers in NA being between 9.50m and 9.60m

And in OR, sell between 250,000 and 350,000 by the end of October, so total numbers being between 8.31m and 8.41m

Total Worldwide sales by the end of October being between  24.37m and 24.62m"

Well here we are 3 weeks later with 2 whole weeks remaining before the end of October, and the PSP has broke the 1m barrier in half the time.

Worldwide hardware sales, are currently 24.69m, a whole 1.32m sales in 3 weeks effectively.  So I now expect the PSP to sell another 400k-500k in the next 3 weeks....breaking the 25m barrier.

So what next.  Can the PSP sell 2m in 2 months (Nov & Dec) or can it do even better than that?  My initial predication of 27m is still on, yet I expect the PSP to sell closer to 29m now after the release of the Slim &Lite.

What are your ideas?

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Around the Network

It's selling amazingly well but it has been steadily decreasing since the 200+thousand week it had in Japan when it launched. American numbers are good and were steadily increasing until this week. I think in Nov. and Dec. it can move a million but I think two million is a lot to ask for in two months but I've been proven wrong before. With the lackluster release of SF: LS (fifty thousand first week) I don't see how many other games can force people to buy it. Maybe if GoW: CoO came out this year, I'd say it'd do two million but I think 1 million between now and Dec. 31 is more likely.

Well, the PSP sold over 2m worldwide in December alone last year.  Surely we should be expecting it to sell similar numbers again this year?

I will certainly stick by my original prediction of 27m by the end of 2007, so another 2.31m to go until that prediction comes true.  Although expect sales of 3-4m for the remainder of this year.

With games like Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, LocoRoco 2, Silent Hill Origins, Wipeout Pulse, Warhammer 40k, SOCOM Tactical Strike, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and Patapon all expected before Xmas, surely some of these games will help sell the system, along with a cheaper pricetag this Xmas as well.

I guess it will pass 2m during Nov/Dec. You're underestimating it. My guess is 2.8m easily (1.5 Nov, 1.3 Dec)
