i want these people that i have following me to equip different weapons...ive given them weapons and ammo...but they wont change...and Ian keeps using a knife which isnt very helpful.

 

and...how do i target specific parts of enemies?

isn't there any dialog option to tell them to use a certain weapon, or a ranged weapon at least?

to target parts you right click the huge "weapon" button, it will cycle through attack modes. the one that lets you pick a part has higher AP cost and a circle in the right-bottom corner of the butotn.

one note on the choosing parts

its been a while since i played it, but i think there may be a perk or two that limit that ability

best bet bro is go to gamefaqs, look it up, and read the BEGINNING of a walkthrough as it'll be like an instruction book which i assume youre missing, dont read the rest tho, the story is awesome

blows my mind that this and number two are not on xbla

I don't really think it will happen though, unless they go the Fallout 3 way and remove child killing etc

Unlike its successor, Fallout 1 has no dialog for adjusting your party members gear. The best thing you can do is to steal their crap equipment away and/or plant better stuff on them and pray they use them.

Also - do you have the "Fast Shot" - trait? If so, you can't do aimed attacks with ANY weapon.

they finally started using the stuff, im not sure what prompted it, but both of them did at the same time.  ian and that other guy(the one from junktown).  they and dogmeat are really helpful, idk if i could have made it through some of the fights without them.

 

no, i dont have the trait, i just didnt know that i had to right click the gun picture.
