Forums - Gaming - When did you realize that games could acutally be bad?

Back to the Future 2&3 on NES.  I had no nidea a game could suck so much.

Horrible music played through the whole thing, the enemies sucked, it was too hard and cheap about it, etc.  People say that the ET game is the worst ever, but I have to wonder if they have played this.

lol that NES Star Trek game. Shooting worms with phasers. I didn't even own it, I had to watch my cousins play it because they were obsessed with beating all of their games. Sucked to even watch.

Some time during the late NES. I was about 10 and my parents finally told me what an "allowance" was. So it forced me to save my money and actually pick games I liked, instead of stuff other people liked (or SAID they liked.)

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I had kind of the opposite position. My mom started working at blockbuster when I was about.....5 or 6? And because she worked there she got to rent 5 things for free every week. I probably played just about every single game for the NES, Genesis, SNES, N64, and PS1 that they had out for rent at that store. I never even had to buy them, I could just rent them again for free when I took them back, she would check them back in for me and re rent them the next morning.

@GameMusic:

Yes! Back to the Future 2 & 3 was definitely one of the all-time low points of the NES (or gaming in general). You should watch the Angry Video Game Nerd feature on the Back to the Future games; it's pretty good.

Hates Nomura.

Friday the 13th sucked so bad on the NES, yet I still rented it many times, haha (that's what kids do ;p)

Hahah, I just downloaded the ROM of Friday the 13th a few hours ago to see if it was still as terrible as I remembered it being.

It was.

I always seem to like the black sheep of game series so I enjoyed both The Adventure of Link and Super Mario Bros. 2.

I don't know which was the first game I realized was bad, but it must've been in the NES era because that's when I started renting games. The first one I remember being bad was The Rocketeer, but I'm sure I'd rented other crappy NES games before that one.
