Forums - Gaming - Which system is the loudest/quietest?

I know the Xbox 360 is loud and the Wii is really quiet, that's the general consensus.  Nobody seems to agree on the PS3 though.  Some say it's dead quiet and others (including me) say it's real loud.  It's an important issue to me since i find even the slightest sounds distracting.

 

After an hour of running in an open air enviroment how do these systems compare?

How does the PS3 Slim model compare to the original?

PS3 slim is quieter than the original which was already quiet (until a year's time)

My 360 still has the Boeing 747 roar. It gets my vote for loudest. Wii the quietest.

DS is the most quiet.

360 is loud playing through the disc drive. Playing on a hard drive probably makes it about as loud as a PS3.

PS3 is quiet but can get loud with age/extended playtime.

Wii is pretty quiet, but a PS3 on the first fan setting probably makes less noise. Anything after the first fan setting and the Wii wins.

At least from my experiences.

My 360 is fairly quiet actually. It's only noticeable when it's reading a disc, even then, its not bad.

My PS3 has never made a noticeable noise, so it's extremely quiet.

From my EXP thus far...

PlayStation 3 Phat - Very quiet 90% of the time, but if you play to long are doing some really iffy things they needs more of the cells power then it gets as loud as a fridge.

Xbox 360 - Really loud when playing games straight off the disc, i don't have a big hard-drive yet so it does get pretty iffy, but it doesn't effect gameplay, i just make the Vol louder.

Wii - Not much from what i see, i played it a few good times at my uncles and its as quiet as a PS2.

PSP (2000 Model AKA my FAVE) - Easy going most of the time until it loads a big ass area or something, then it makes this weird as almost spooky sctrachy noise.

DSLite / DSi - Not sure, i haven't officially choosen one yet so don't have an opinion on this one...

PS3 Slim - Dunno.

The DS doesn't have any moving parts, it's going to be essentially silent in all cases.
