First, birth isn't as bad as everybody here is making it out to be. The water stinks when it breaks, and there is blood, but with an epidural (unless you get screwed like my wife did) should render the woman pain free.
Sex, can be amazing. My first time with one of my Xs was...not all that...but it was planned, not spontaneous, we were both nervous, and we were rushed. For her, I don't think the sex was all that either, but afterwords I made sure it was worth her while ; )
Anyway, I would say wait, it will be worth it, make sure you are comfortable with the person you are with, and just let things flow, don't rush them, or plan everything down to the second.

Well speaking from experience of at least 1000 each, I think head is just as good as sex, and often better.
