Forums - Sony - Question regarding Nier Replicant

I have no idea how this Nier release will work. We already know Nier is coming to both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America, as Square

have said Gestalt being Xbox 360-only in Japan (which is the same game) will not affect the North American release.

So does that mean Riplicant will be PS3/360 in NA, and Gestalt just for Japan ??

Can somebody help please

NO.....Nier replicant is ps3 exclusive and gestalt is 360 exclusive but reading your post that said "360 exclusive in Japan" that I don't know if it means it will be MP in NA/EU.

Replicant is Ps3 exlusive
Gestalt is 360 exclusive

But i have a hunch, that both games are the same game, on ps3 once you finish the story u unlock the gestalt story, on 360 once you finish the story u unlock the replicant story, cause i dont think that the developper CAVIA is able to produce 2 separate games on 2 platforms at once.

heres wat we kno...theres 2 versions Replicant(PS3) and Gestalt(360)...iirc Gestalt is announced for NA and not JP will Replicant(PS3) is announced for JP and not NA

Odd, I think what Square said was that PS3 Near Replicant being announced for japan won't affect the west... in other words Replicant might stay in Japan. Any link to that specific interview, I can't find it anymore.
But I think it basically boils down to Gestalt being fine for the west, and Replicant being made for Japan, where they won't like the Gestalt protagonist and where a PS3 game will sell much better.

 

There was this earlier this year, so at least apparently at some point it was simply only Gestalt and only for the west.

Saito said that he views Nier's "mature protagonist" as a feature he thinks will attract a Western audience, since players in Japan tend to favor younger starring characters.

Then there was this last week.

Both are set in the same world, and both have the same basic plot of Nier (a rough-and-tough white-haired swordsman) traveling the world to save a girl named Yonah from the Black Scrawl virus. The Niers of both games are different, though; the one you control in Replicant looks a great deal younger and more slender than the muscular, rugged hero of Gestalt.
