Forums - Nintendo - This is why the Curse-ExtremeSpeed Combo is never going to earn a STAB...

Picture this: an Adamant, Scrappy, Level 100 Kangaskhan with maxed out values uses this combo at the Battle Hall... 1,700 or more Single Battles later, it makes Argenta hand over her precious Colored Medal, who cries like a baby about it... There is simply no force on Earth that can stand up to such an attack: it beats everybody in two rounds, save for Rock and/or Steel types, even with a Nature that benefits Defense and maxed out values in all stats... Their only chances to buy time for themselves are Probopass and Steelix (or, to a slightly more dicey extent, Onix and Nosepass), and they don't learn any Fighting-type moves, save for Rock Smash, and that's not gonna get the job done! So, unless the computer LITERALLY CHEATS, it's not possible to beat such a PKMN! Any questions or disagreements can be discussed here... I'll get out of the way now...

Lucario could take a +1 STAB Extreme Speed from Kangaskhan at NVE and respond with a +2 STAB SE Close Combat for a OHKO.

Personally I don't like curse much.

A straight Swords Dance/Nasty Plot or Substitute/Belly Drum/Salac gets you into sweeping range much much faster.

@ Words: Yeah, I guess you're right: Curse does kinda suck... Swords Dance would be a better fit for ExtremeSpeed, if the two could possibly find itself in one moveset (maybe Smeargle's? *checks his maximum stats for attack* never mind, his maximum attack with a beneficial nature is only 152)...

I Think You Are Going To Have To Post Some Stats Before You Actually Ask If It Is Possible For Any Of These Pokemon To Be Beaten.

It's unorthodox, but a Dragonite with Focus Punch could get the job done.

Turn 1: Kangaskhan Curses; Dragonite uses Substitute
Turn 2: Dragonite tightens its focus, Kangaskhan uses Extremespeed; The substitute is destroyed. Dragonite uses a super-effective Focus Punch for a massive OHKO.

I'm a bit late but I always wondered why Bulk Up isn't used as much as Curse competitively.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Because almost everything that learns Bulk Up also learns Swords Dance.

Why can't a ghost pokemon switch in on extremespeed?

Also you could encore the curse which would screw over the pokemon. It doesn't seem as broken a combination as you make it out to be.

Dialga and Palkia sometimes use Bulk up. There are also some Never Used pokemon that use Bulk up on there sets as well.

Kangaskhan and Miltank (and maybe a couple others) have the "Scrappy" ability.  The "Scrappy" ability allows Normal and Fighting Type moves to hit Ghosts.

Encore is great.

Hitmonlee is a UU that can use Bulk Up decently.
