Is HALO 3: ODST an over-hyped DLC priced at the full retail price of $60, or has Bungie truly offered a compelling FPS experience that takes us back to old Mombasa, only this time you experience the war from the standpoint of a “Rookie”.
From 6.3 ratings which PS3 fanboys are galavanting in from the likes of NowGamer to 9.0 ratings which Xbox 360 fanboys are praising from Eurogamer Portugal, ratings have been all across the board for HALO 3: ODST and while the ultimate judgment comes from you the gamer, it would be nice to get a clear idea of what you’re getting into with HALO 3: ODST
There are enough reviews going around good and bad, so to be fair to those individuals who are interested in buying HALO 3: ODST let’s make it simple. If you own an Xbox 360 and you are a fan of the franchise, by all means purchase this game. For casual gamers who are relatively new Xbox 360 owners looking for a new and cool FPS experience, buy HALO 3: ODST. HALO 3: ODST is clearly the best Xbox 360 exclusive in 2009 so far, however, dependng on who you ask that might not be saying a whole lot.
Based on our brief campaign play through experience and yes it’s short, HALO 3: ODST is not a system seller but that doesn’t matter, the game is fun. Nevertheless, based on the name alone, I don’t believe anyone is willing to bet that this game wont push consoles at $299.
If anything negative has to be expressed about HALO 3: ODST, for starters don’t expect to be graphically blown away by no stretch of the imagination. While the game does offer a great presentation which is strongly supported by the art direction of the urban environments and day/night scenerios, it does not hide the HALO 3 engine limitation which are obvious throughout. Also, the games AI interaction in single-player is no different from the HALO 3 experience. Is that a problem, maybe, being that HALO 3 released 2 years ago. 2 years ago this was great but today not so much. Games today have trumped this AI experience all together by offering more sophisticated AI. On the positive side, in Fire Fight mode the AI is relentless and you definitely need to work together in order to prolong the matches. The enemy comes at you hard and nasty.
Many of the gripes expressed towards HALO 3: ODST is that once again nothing new has been presented to the FPS genre from the franchise “just another HALO game with no innovation” so why the 9.0 ratings from the likes of IGN. While these are legitimate concerns, once again the ultimate judgment comes from you the gamer and that is buying power. If you believe HALO 3: ODST is an overhyped DLC don’t buy it.
Should it retail for $60, it depends on who you ask. Take away the old HALO 3 multiplayer maps which have been played a million times over and clearly you see that HALO 3: ODST is a solid DLC that hardcore fans and newcomers to the franchise would still enjoy.

i dont see anything actually wrong with the game, the only gripe i would have is the second dvd which contains halo 3 multiplayer. apart from that this is a new game.
if your a halo fan get the game, if not have a try of it you might like it.
so give it a rest now. ive highlighted the red above, as it seems, to many people attach themselfs on reviews only these days.
