I will point out it out sold the wii which is still half its price and did that without a killer aaa game wii has Metroid.

No, I don't see a pattern. I see a $100 pricedrop week 1 sales boost. There is a reason your the only one acting like a monkey on crack. It's the first week, of course it will be high. It's actually disappointing that the pricedrop week only got it 2K higher than the Wii for such a large drop. You did the same thing when the PSP Slim launched, and it's already down to less than 1/3 of it's launch week. A large pricedrop like this is basically a re-launch. Everyone (except apparently you) realizes that the number it settles at is what's important, not the boost from the first few weeks.

Edit: Apparently mars doesn't understands what's going on about as well as you leo-j.  Actually, mars understands what's going on even less.  Metroid doesn't release in PAL territories until October 26th.  Congratulations mars on surpassing leo-j.

Yes, I see a pattern... The pattern is that the PS3 is almost always on 3rd place unless it recently got a price cut...

next week metroid is out here in europe,
16th of november galaxy is out in europe,
Also if needs be nintendo are in a stronger position to cut their prices.

The extraordinary thing is that the wii has been selling like hotcakes and the only major release over the past 6 months has been paper mario.

I think sony went as far as they could to cut the price of the ps3. I don't think that the price will come down for another 8 months or so, (maybe even more). The ps3 sales will fall back a fair bit, but essentially they should keep to a higher level than what they were. Unfortunately for Sony, I think they have some serious competition this gen and they will be third this christmas in europe. I have also seen some marketing for the ps3 focusing on the 400 euro price mark, which is a big psychological hurdle cleared for people hoping to buy one.

Contrary to Leo-J's prediction, i can't see japan "flipping" over an extended period of time. Galaxy, fit and the popularity of the wii, means that the wii is going to go on a blitz this christmas in japan. And to cut the price by by so much, and yet only outsell the other consoles by a few thousand, means that europe has not flipped (certainly not for any length of time).

The ps3 should at the moment enjoy it's spell of semi-success.

I mean, x360 already released geow and halo3, only left mass effect and lost odyssey. And still doesn`t selling good in europe.

While wii, is just 2 time cheapier then 60GB ps3, and already have Zelda and MP3, and Mario Galaxy soon.

With good advertising of Ratchet and Uncharted, ps3 has good chances to sell on pair with wii this Christmas in europe, and maybe even outsell a little, time will show. :)
