I wish it well but I can't see past this being a marketing ploy.

Any thing that is "sold out" without actual figures - even a educated guess- is always suspect.

As for an iPod killer I remember similar articles as below from 2007. Let's wait and see.

It doesn't have a chance in hell at being an iPod killer(no one really thinks it is).  What it is, is a fantastic PMP.

The iPod is king of the hill for various reasons:

1. First PMP to really get the interface right
2. Constantly moving the bar to avoid being passed by the competition
3. Tying it to the iTunes service

MS is big and powerful enough to eventually make the Zune successful, but Apple will need to fall asleep at the wheel for the Zune to unseat it.
