That's the number of Playstation sold.

You think Multi-plat will do that?

I mean combined 360/PS3 userbase is smaller then PS2 isn't it?

Plus Famitsu's prediction here has FF13's lifetime total as half that of FF10s... which sold 8 million.

Even assuming a multiplatform boost if Famitsu was right (i think it's low...) you'd think it'd be lucky to reach X's numbes.

When FFX released on the PS2, the userbase was at 5 mil. It sold 1.9 mil first week (38% attach rate).

To be fair to FFXIII, I'd say FF has slowly been declining in sales (look at the PS1 FF's). Still, if it sells to less than 30% of the userbase first week (probably around 1.2mil when it comes out), I think it'd be disappointing for the series. This is Final Fantasy, after all.

As for DQ9 outselling FFXIII, there's an outside chance. If it's a hit in the west (~3mil), it has a shot. I doubt it can get that high, though.

Famitsu did nail the sales of ToV on the PS3, at least the first day/week sales, so they certainly are reliable when it comes to estimating/predicting sales. This makes the expected FFXIII sales in Japan disturbingly low.

I think that's too high.  I think it could get to 4-6million on PS3 worldwide LTD, but the 360 version will only add 2-3million max.  No way it'll hit 10 million.

I feel that FF13 is positioned by square to be a game that can really gel with the 360 crowd & get BIG sales

I think FF13 is positioned to be a game that can expand the audience of the franchise.

I think the marketing will be HUGE....the reviews & response will be HUGE & it will be one of the defining games of this generation, Wada sounds extremely proud of FF13.

Just my preediction though.

I expect the Japanese sales of FFXIII to be bigger than whatever the game will sell in the West on the PS3 and 360 combined.

I dunno, man. I'm not confident that JRPG's can do big numbers on the 360. I think my 2-3million estimate for the Western market alone was being extremely generous.
