That would imply that a much lower percentage of the userbase will be getting FF13 than FF7 and 10 at time of release - which both sold to 40% of the userbase first week at the time of release.
Also, first shipment was around 245k for TOV PS3. 147/.6 = 245 since first day was 60% sellthrough. They predicted 130k to 190k as first shipment.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
trestres said: Wow, look at the massive difference there is between VGC LTD numbers for M&S at the Olympics and the ones Famitsu has... 610k vs 384k Still I think they are lowballing everything on purpose.
610,000 is for the Wii. VGC has the DS version at 420,000.
ioi said: Wanna post this up as news? Commenting on the figures themselves - they are first shipment not first week sales and will be based on hard data. Not sure why people are expecting so much from FFXIII - the install base is significantly smaller than for previous FF games so I think 1m week one and 1.5m total seems totally reasonable. Also with Tekken - the game might do 100k week 1 then creep to 200k lifetime, seems reasonable based on recent Tekken performance and the smaller PS3 userbase.
can we really use the instal base argument on the case of FFXIII?
look at MGS4. and who know how many people are waiting for FFXIII to pick up the PS3.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

I think around 2 million is almost a lock for Final Fantasy XIII, but more I see it practically impossible.
Final Fantasy VII --- 1st week 2.034.879 --- LTD 3.277.776
Final Fantasy VIII --- 1st week 2.504.044 --- LTD 3.501.588
Final Fantasy IX --- 1st week 1.954.421 --- LTD 2.707.301
Final Fantasy X --- 1st week 1.749.737 --- LTD 2.325.215
Final Fantasy X-2 --- 1st week 1.472.914 --- LTD 1.960.937
Final Fantasy XII --- 1st week 1.840.397 --- LTD 2.322.541
- Final Fantasy XIII --- 1st week 1.550.000 --- LTD 1.900.000
btw, very low estimations for Inazuma Eleven 2 (this estimation is a joke), Phantasy Star Portable 2, Gran Turismo and Sengoku Musou 3.
[NDS] Inazuma Eleven 2 (Level 5) FS 220K-310K / TF 170K-240K (Inazuma - FW 41K / LTD 386K)
[PSP] Phantasy Star Portable 2 (Sega) FS 190K-240K / TF 210K-400K (PSP - FW 329K / LTD 637K)
[PSP] Gran Turismo (SCE) FS 160K-220K / TF 250K-320K (GT5P - FW 108K / LTD 239K)
[WII] Sengoku Musou 3 (Koei) FS 80K-120K / TF 120K-170K (Sengoku Musou 2 - FW 301K / LTD 552K)
question is this data limited to Japan only?? if so then i can understand the FFXIII numbers given the install base
Rei said: If that's what FFXIII is going to sell on the PS3 then the next mainline FF game will be on a handheld.
I think it probably depends on how DQX does, but you could be right...
Soriku said: Like I said in the other thread, I doubt they'd wait until late 2011 or whatever to finally decide. hero_time made a good point that the FF XII team is likely making FFXV now. I wonder if SE are disappointed, Nintrndo will try aggressively to get FFXV on the Wii like MH3/DQ X? I want them to do that with KH3 instead though.
Do you mean the FFXI team?
@khuutra
no the FF11 team worked on FF14, right
FFX team on FF13
so that leaves the FF12 team which must be working on FF15......the TRUE nex-gen JRPG!
