Wii Price Cut Confirmed
Joshua Johnston 9/18/2009, 5:07pm Eastern Time

Following several days of scanned images indicating a Wii price cut, Nintendojo can now confirm that such a cut is indeed coming. Wii will be reduced to $199, effective Sunday, September 27th, and will likely include retailers nationwide. The confirmation was made during a retailer conference call today where a Nintendojo staffer was in attendance.

It's probably true.

Pixel Art can be fun.

With all the talk of it happening, it seems pretty much confirmed. Will they introduce new bundles this Christmas?

the sales can be MASSIVE now!

im only glad that they gave Sony 1 month...in october everybody only will talk about the Wii Price Drop not about the Slim!But in December PS3 will outsell the Wii definatly!

As long as it doesn't stop the bundles from coming, I think it's a good thing to do.

Well that's that.

I wonder what sales will be for NPD. Can the Wii pull ahead the PS3 with just 3 days? I doubt it but sales should be huge.

@TT

Japan absolutely, WW no though.

Even Japan depends on when they launch NSMB Wii in Japan, if its December than Wii wins easily

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Now the only question I have is whether this is a permanent cut or a movie to sell their current stock, because the Italian gamestop ad says its limited to 5,000
