Well we can see that Wii is finaly slowing at least little down..

Nintendo is going to this holidays with 3 Marios (Galaxy2,Sonic&Mario,New Super Mario Bros).I know there is some other games coming so don't post lists here.

Well some people (like me ??) say Halo ODST won't boost Xbox 360 hardware since fans bought Xbox 360 when Halo 3 came.

So how about Mario?Did all Mario fans bought Wii when Mario Galaxy came?

A 2D mario (2.5D in NSMB) is very very attractive. It will push sales, but not rocket high

2D Mario is a lot bigger than 3D Mario; NSMBWii is an attempt to get DS owners to get a Wii, while SMGalaxy was just attracting GameCube fans.

SMG2 and M&S 2 won't be attracting many new owners at all.

NSMBWii will, but I'd wager a lot of Mario fans already own the console for SMG, Super Paper Mario, M&S at the Olympics 1 and 2, Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Party 8, Mario Power Tennis, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Dr. Mario RX, the Virtual Console Mario's and a big backlog of GC Mario's from those who already owned a GC and moved on to Wii.

NSMB had a bigger impact on the DS because it was the first original Mario platformer released for the platform.

I don't know, trestres. Of all those games, only Mario Kart Wii has become a constant seller that probably contributed greatly to console sales. And I think 2D Mario has greater appeal than Mario Kart.

We wouldn't even have all those other games if not for 2D Mario.

The VGC database lists 370 million sales of Mario games. Quickly adding up the 2D platformers on the list I got 185 million, or half of all Mario sales... And that is despite the fact that there has only been 1 all-new 2D Mario platformer in the last 15 years or so.

halo appeals mainly to the male 13-30 crowd. so it only sales consoles to that demographic.
mario appeals to everyone of all ages. there are more potential customers from that one so mario can push more consoles
