I don't know, trestres. Of all those games, only Mario Kart Wii has become a constant seller that probably contributed greatly to console sales. And I think 2D Mario has greater appeal than Mario Kart.
We wouldn't even have all those other games if not for 2D Mario.
The VGC database lists 370 million sales of Mario games. Quickly adding up the 2D platformers on the list I got 185 million, or half of all Mario sales... And that is despite the fact that there has only been 1 all-new 2D Mario platformer in the last 15 years or so.
