You do martial arts? That's where I get most of my exercise. I pretty much do it whenever I get the time though, I don't have a specific routine.
I practice taekwondo, which I think is a pretty well rounded martial art; I've learned all kinds of punches, kicks, varying techniques, staff fighting, counter attacks, knife defense, and stuff like that. It all gives a great workout, especially once you get up to the black belt techniques.

I am studying Martial Science, Jeet Kune Do, Ninjitsu, Jujitsu, Wing Chun and I'm starting to look into Aikido, Taekwondo, Muay Thai...

Are you good at kicks?

Geez, I got into taekwondo because we had a business in my town with a really good master. That's the only one I've studied so far.

Not to sound full of myself or anything, but yes. The master at my school back in my home town has very high expectations of his black belts, so there's no way he'd have passed me if I wasn't good at them. I know that my friend actually complained that we worked on them too much.

Just as a point of interest, we had a master (fourth degree) who was an expert in the millitary style, so he'd drill us over the basics, another master (sixth degree) who would drill us on kicks with a minor focus on punches and blocks, and then the owner of the do jang and another sixth degree black belt who is from S. Korea and learned from the masters there. He tends to focus on techniques and combining all the stuff we've learned for sparring matches. It's a pretty well rounded place.

Can you do inverted roundhouse and inverted hook kicks? Those are the only types of kicks I can't do.

Can you do a kick straight up in the air?

I'm teaching myself out of books...

i wanted to go to gymnastics, i did once time but my doctor said im not allowed to do a lot of exercise cos of my heart so the sit ups are all i do, really. even those are sporadic at best tho, lol.

What's wrong with your heart?

^the muscle surrounding it is inflamed, so when my heart beats faster than normal for a prolonged period of time it smacks against the muscle through the pericardium (layer around the heart) and cant beat properly (its restricted cos the muscle is obviously taking up more space than it should be) so my body thinks its having a heart attack. left arm goes dead, i get that shit-horrible pain all down my back and through my chest, double over cant breathe and almost pass out. its been going on since easter.

Chronically? Why is it inflamed? Do u take pills for it?

Mmm... Trash, that sucks.

I've never tried an inverted roundhouse, to be honest. I can do an inverted hook kick though. I have to say that I enjoy some of the flashier kicks like the tornado roundhouse too. They're just fun to do.

You mean like a front kick? I can't do the splits; no matter how much I stretch, that seems to elude me. I can however kick very high, and if you're just talking about a jumping front kick or something, I can do that. Well, I've managed to break boards that are right over my head from a standing position.

I was lucky to have the place that I did since there are quite a few highly skilled masters there.

i spent an hour and a half changing a tyre in the snow earlier this year, got flu/chest infection for 3 weeks and then it just got bad. had heart scans and all that jazz but they couldnt give me any pills that would work..

so i do whatever exercise i can, but its a good excuse to be lazy! ^_^

@twesterm

Why is going after dinner stupid?

You have all that food in your belly and running around isn't fun afterwards (since I usually or use to do weights + cardio).  :-p

I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I had a salad or sometihng like that but I don't like to have salads all the time.  >_>

One of the worst and dumbest experiences I've ever had working out (and this was really because I was an idiot that night) was when I had a huge Whataburger mea and then worked out.  I think I covered that bathroom in vomit.  XD

That reminds me of the time I ate a pizza just before doing tabata intervals. Yeah I nearly died XDDD

but damn did i feel good afterwards

I can only do high front kicks with my left leg. It's a lot more flexible from my left when it comes to front kicks. I can do roundhouse kicks, side kicks, and hook kicks very high with both legs, for example I can kick above someones head if they're the same height as me. But I can't kick right above my own head with a side kick, example: www.winjitsu.com

I can do the splits almost, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSLaoa9MEzk that's three weeks of practise, I posted it one week ago, I also have a video I did of the splits after 1 week of practise, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xa9q0YnZRPY I can do it better now, it's been four weeks, I can start with my hands free and slowly slide into it, but I pulled my groin so I can't make a video of that until it heals.

One of my goals is to be able to drop into the splits like it's nothing, and eventually be able to do a side kick straight in the air.

Yeah, I tend to favor my right leg for a lot of kicks, but I'm still pretty good with my left. I can kick about the same level as my head (I'm 6'1" so I shouldn't need to go higher than that) and I can kick pretty high with side kicks. One of the masters who taught me can actually do a side kick straight up. It's crazy. (Of course, he's done all kinds of things that I can barely believe). I can almost get there but takes quite a bit of balance to get the hang of it. Not to mention it's a lot easier if you can do the splits.

That's impressive. I've been working at it for over three years now and I just can't get any closer than I am right now. It's a real pain. I've got like 6 inches to go still...
