Just went to best buy while on my lunch...

Wolverine Xmen origins just came out...its 23.99 on DVD and 39.99 on bluray.
Mind you, DVD has a 2 disc special edition which is 31.99, but if you just want to see the movie, and don't have a 40 inch+ HDTV...why would anyone choose bluray over DVD?

Wow,  if prices are that bad out by you than I can understand no one would want Blu-ray but by me the same Blu-ray is 27.99.

Also  Blu-ray does still look better than DVD even on SDTVs,  its just not as big a difference as it is on an HDTV.

Are you accusing m of lying about prices? :)

DVD

Bluray

And saying bluray looks better on SDTV would require one of those GT trailer video comparisons where they show a PS3 and 360 multiplat game side to side. Its not very noticable is what Im saying...

And those prices are why I buy online, and I suggest everyone should start doing the same as long as they are able to do it.

The store I was refering to was not a Best Buy,  they are always way to high with their prices of DVDs and Blu-rays.

i hope this means the the prices of Blu-rays will come down now.
seriously $29.99 is way to much for a standard Blu-ray...

the Planet Earth blu-ray collection i got for Christmas last year.... well i am in love
(=

I'm eyeing that too >.< It's around 60 bucks on Amazon I think.

I only saw a few episode, but loved them (I loved the little bit with the fungus and ant)

do it! its so good.

wow and only 60? i remember looking at it last year and it was like 90$

prices have come down some (=

Yup. I'm eyeing Uncharted 2, Demon's Soul or http://www.amazon.com/Planet-Earth-Complete-BBC-Blu-ray/dp/B000MRAAJM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1253295099&sr=1-2, GoW III, and Heavy Rain. Not sure about XIII, want to get some reviews first. The graphics for XIII aren't the very best anymore, especially with all the released footages and shots being bullshots. Gameplay isn't guaraunteed after XII. Story hasn't always been good in Final Fantasy, especially when they try to get a love story going.

Not so many haters, but hate is still strong with a few. For some odd reason, console loyalty has a pattern with the hate /sacrasm. Especially since Sony doesn't own Blu-ray.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

I depends on the movie.  Blu-ray movies are typically created from a very high-quality master.  Current DVDs are created from the same masters, but many older DVDs (say 5 years or older) were created from lower-quality masters.  Considering that DVDs support resolution greater than a standard-resolution tv can display, DVDs created from high-quality masters should look as good as the same movie on Blu-ray.  Older DVDs, however, might look worse.

Overall, though, DVDs will look about the same as Blu-rays when viewed on a standard definition tv.

what those numbers also dont show is total media sales and DVD are way down from last year while Blu-ray is way up from last year. Plus earlier this year they changed the way they track the Blu-ray to DVD sakes ratio. They went from revenue of the Top 20 to total revenue for the week. you should take a look at the Blu-ray sales tracking thread I have been updating on vgchartz. Cause to say that Blu-ray is struggling is just being mis-informed.

I explined why it's innacurate to take in the whole Blu Ray range in my above post. Same week releases for DVD and Blu Ray is declining in marketshare for BluRay. It's the only accurate guage. It is not accurate to include sales of films on BluRay as they are only at most 4 years old. Whereas DVD's will be 12+ years old at the most. If you cannot see why it's inaccurate to take all BluRay media into marketshare analysis then there is no point continuing further with my discussion.

Films released side by side right now in the top 20 ( which is how Blu-raystats work ) is the only way to guage current marketshare of public buying Blu Ray films.

Blu Ray owners are buying back catalogs. Whereas DVD owners already own them. Thats where your thread has a problem.

Its only innaccurate because you arguement fails because of it, and you dont like that.  If it was such an innacurate way of tracking marketshare why did the number one source for home media sales information change to Total Revenue instead of Top 20 revenue?  Because it didnt accurately reflect the market thats why.   Because basically what you are saying is that not one person who still buys DVDs on a regular basis goes back and gets an older movie that was released 5+ years ago.  Which is complete BS.    Both Blu-ray and DVD owners are buying back catalogs, thinking otherwise is being ignorant.

What? Innacurate because my argument fails.

I'l explain. Twister on DVD came out in late 90's on DVD. Everyone who wants Twister on DVD already has it, bar a few people still not got DVD player yet. Now for example BluRay comes out later than 2006. Now, of course Twister will sell well on BluRay because of the new adopters rebuying now on BluRay. But to see accurate marketshare you need to take into account all the Twister sales for DVD since it was released. Because there will be noone buying it now. Then it will give you an accurate marketshare. The only way to tell is to guage the marketshare off of new films released side by side on DVD and Bluray. That is the accurate marketshare. Because thats all DVD will sell now becasue everyone already owns the older films. You see?

no offense but whoever is rebuying all their old movie collection on blue ray is a dumb nut, seriously have you check out old movie on blue ray??? those movie looks like shit quality compare new movies. from personal experience I borrow Total recall from friend and that shit looks exactly like shit on blue ray.

ok back to topic, blu ray movie are still too god damn expensive. I'm pretty sure most peope buying blue ray player are using it more for dvd movies than blue ray. I know I'm one of those people using my blue ray players for dvds because of the expensive blue ray price.
