Yes as the title states (because I am overly dramatic) the ps3 is getting its first major RPG release (next to WKC which sold very well) TALES OF VESPERIA which according to "THE SOURCE" may sell over 200k its first week in japan, and has sold it on amazon japan just for indications of high demand. Now since we have the PS3 slim's launch and the ps3 has dropped nearly like a rock, does ANYONE believe TOV can boost ps3 hardware in japan? Possibly over 60k? Or 70k, or even 80k? Or will it drop yet again under 50k? Set your predictions now!

Without ToV I would say PS3 numbers would be 30k next week....But ToV can boost the sales with 20k;....But maybe those people who want ToV already bought a PS3...... Meh!

Well what I guess is it would be enough to offset a little of what it was going to do in this next drop.

But it may have no affect whatsoever. What's to say those people buying Tales just didn't pick up the Slim these past couple of weeks. If they knew they were going to do it why wait for Tales when you already got the price drop, new SKU, etc.

So it may have less of effect than we think. Could actually be part of the reason that PS3 Japan increases were so large as it could have picked up some of that base that was going to buy it with Vesperia.

I mean any other timing and this would be very easy to determine but because of the recent things going on with PS3 there are more variables. I don't think PS3 will be able to sell 55k this week but I at least think it'll be enough to offset another harsh drop.

I believe ToV will boost the PS3, but by a much less significant amount than the drop in PS3 sales due to the slim/price cut effect wearing off
