That Videogame Blog review
+ An incredible story that you’ll want to see through to the end
+ A bunch of clever gameplay mechanics that are perfect when used at the right moment
+ Huge range of options to make your play through different to everyone else’s
- Perhaps not as flexible as some had hoped, repeated playthroughs can reveal serious cracks in the game’s structure
- Visuals and audio are very inconsistent
- A handful of plot holes, out of character actions, and strange events hurt the plot a fair bit

Heavy Rain developers quantic dream have already put out a 226 MB patch to obviously fix certain issues, no idea what they are at this stage, but I will post them as soon as I know more. Maybe someone else knows about this, all input is welcome.
Technically speaking I am the source, I picked the game up yesterday and wanted to play some more before I go out tonight. Loaded the game and voila 1.01, thought this might be interesting and took a picture of it to back up my claims.
Let the discussion begin. Enjoy.

First update: Playing the game after installing the patch has negatively impacted my game, hair, clothing and other objects are often out of place and seem to appear/disappear very quickly and randomly. This could be due to the fact that I updated the game whilst already being half way through it, these issues will probably not be caused when starting a brand new game.

^I don't mean to sound against that one...but it actually sounds..."bad"... When you say HR is the reason to buy a PS3 is like you're telling that to non-gamers or saying the PS3 is for adults only. I haven't played HR but I can tell you that is not THE defining PS3 game, although it summarizes most of the things the PS3 is all about.
^ "a" reason? my whole point is because he said it is THE reason . tongue out right back at you.

yeah, and it's number 4 in Gamestop (up from 6) ...that's DEFINTELY going to push hardware sales. HOWEVER, how can the HR+FFXIII+GOWIII killer trio drive PS3 sales when there are no PS3s to sell to begin with!!!! there are none left in Amazon, and in Gamestop it's been backordered the whole week!

^I don't know why I'm still on the fence with HR...see, I just know I will enjoy the game, but I'm not very sure the story will satisfy me so much to guarantee further enjoyment with the game.
I've always loved games from Tim Schaffer and Ron Gilbert (Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Indiana Jones series, etc) , to me those are experiences that shouldn't be missed. But I've never quite considered them games that MUST BE bought, if you take my meaning. To me those games are like watching certain great movies, but they don't find a place in my personal collection. Once I play through them I find little use left in them. They aren't exactly books or movies in which I can just jump to the parts that I loved very much and can experience again.
Heavy Rain seems to be quite rewarding with all the possibilites and changing scenarios, hopefully it will have a chapter select kind of thing? Even though once you know the story and what happens (or must happen) most of the appeal is gone, I'd really like to know if there's action stuff so amazing I'd like to go through again.
Edit.: One crucial thing I just thought of these interactive games, is that none of them really pose any challenge to the player. I'm all about challenge. I'd really like to know if HR is any different, and it's challenging (in its own kind of way).

I do not know if you are aware of the fact that i made a post about the v1.01 update for Heavy Rain earlier today, I am lucky enough to be playing it before most people. Let me assure you that HR will blow you away, it will suck you in from the very first moment and you wont put the controller down. Jump over that fence of yours and experience is game...i have owned a PS3 from the very first day and personally I have never felt so involved and emotionally touched by a video game. Forget about trailers, screenshots and things you have read because it is nothing compared to playing it for yourself. This game is off the hook and gives everyone a break from the traditional genres.
Pick it up and i assure you it will most likely be the best game you will experience this year.
