Forums - Nintendo - Italian GameStop cutting Wii price to €199

Nooooooooooooooooooooo, I wanted a price cut, cause od the sales, because I own a wii, if a wii hd comes my loved eii will be obsolete

That would be the equivalent of refusing to stock PS2 in it's peak year.

I'm still not convinced it's a price cut. The EB games price in Australia also states, "while stocks last", which suggests to me that it's a new SKU coming rather than a price cut.

I think most of us have come to that conclusion. Nintendo is probably going to bundle Wii Sports Resort and the Wii for $250. This is really because Resort makes the first one inferior.

Well it seems certain of the price cut. Though it's more important why the cut as come? Is it do to economy? A shift in Value Innovation? Is Nintendo making an incumbent move to derail Sony and MS. Many people did believe a cut was possible, but more due to consumer economy than anything else.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Sad. You know what there is written ?

Here you are:

"Nintendo managed, back in 1983, to bring into the household the first succesful console: the Nes!

And now Nintendo with the Wii managed to have everyone playing, from the younger kids to girls to old people! But that's not all!

Nintendo brought a Wii in every home! What?! You still haven't a Wii in your home? You want one but you don't feel like waiting for Santa?

Very well, GameStop will take care of it with a unique offer!!!

Print this mail, bring it to a GameStop sales point and buy it for a never seen before price: €199.00 !

Do it now, only 5000 pieces available! It's a limited quantity sale !

Now you'll have no more excuses to say no to your girlfriend or children! Your Wii is waiting for you at GameStop!"

The bold - and atrocious punctuation - is not mine :)

Anyway, it sounds more like a clearance sale to make space for a new bundling by christmas time than an official price cut.

"All you need in life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure." - Mark Twain

"..." - Gordon Freeman

New bundle, definitely not Wii HD. Anybody who thinks Nintendo is ready to make 53 million Wiis obsolete while they're in a very healthy first place... is insane.

Rubang - they had no problem making DS "obsolete" with the DSi, and that hardware is twice as powerful as its predecessor in addition to having multiple new features. With the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if Wii HD came with little more than an upscaler and hit at $300 to compete with the other two (and not look too bad against them).

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Price cut confirmed? Any ideas on what kind of cut the UK could see? (not that I plan on buying another Wii, it'll just be interesting to see)

im hoping $100 in australia because the wii is retailed at a fucked up price, ($398) it should drop to 300 atleast,
