Forums - Sales - PS3 is now AHEAD of 360 in 2009 sales.

Hmmm, darthdevi said that it would take about 4 weeks to beat the sales for the year.
Something must have happened. Either ps3 got a boost up, or 360 got reduced.

Seems like there is around 100k-200k console sales modification.

@steverhcp02: You are forgetting about the holiday season, if PS3 Slim becomes the console to buy for this year even a bit like Wii was last year(over 1 million one week) it wil wil close the gap by another 500k-1million.

I think 1.5 million for Sony is very high end to be honest this year.

But your post also points to "if" the PS3 becomes console of choice.

Thats a huge if and to me when youre making an analysis you cant go for broke with a big if like that.

Just like 2008 but the complete reverse and in a mere 2 weeks.

Sexy reversal.

Well last year Ps3 was around 300-500k wordlwide at holidays, and it didin't have that much extra boost unlike Xbox 360 crazy price cut.

From software point, Ps3 cleary has better lineup.
Xbox 360 had Gears of war 2 and Fable 2 and some others last year...This year it has Forza 3 and Halo, and I don't think Halo will sell that much hardware.

Now PS3 is way cheaper than last year, so I think it will have around 450-700k ww in early holidays, and maybe in december it can do 800-900k worldwide..And I think if they won't cut Xbox 360 price again for 50€ or 100€ it can't possibly do much vs Ps3.

Then again, Xbox 360 is cheapest console. So I don't know how will Sony continue marketing to bring up brand vs price.

You... you poor fan of the Playstation.

I can see you're struggling to list more than 2 games for the Xbox 360 for both 2008 and 2009. I think thats because listing three items would cause all those negative feelings to well up inside and threaten to bring tears to your eyes. One good, two good, three bad! Ok I got it now. In the future I will try not to bring up a third item in any group/list.

I think Microsoft is content the way sales are going, to be honest. They have more than a few tricks up their sleeve. Considering at the end of the previous generation, the Xbox was behind the PS2 by such an absurd amount, I think they can call the last four years a victory no matter what happens.

That said, do not be surprised if the arcade unit hits the 159.99 USD mark at some point. It would be most certainly a loss per unit, but I really believe that Microsoft doesn't mind hemmhoraging money, if for its "Greater food"
