third party better on cube than wii????

Personally:

First party - GC > Wii >>>>>> N64

Third party - Wii >> GC >>> N64 (N64 had horrid third parties, Rare being counted as 2nd party here of course)

Is it because of the loss of turn-based battle? Or the general environment? I'll admit I was a bit disappointed at first, but I got to love the game in its own right. I would indeed choose TYD over SPM if I had to pick one, but I'd say each is good in their own context.

GC = GC + GB + GBC + GBA
Wii = Wii + GC + WW + VC

Wii wins by a landslide. The VC alone is the greatest game library in existence. VC + Wii Sports + Galaxy = victory.

Wii has a better Mario Kart, a better 3-D Mario, a better Zelda, and is getting the first 2-D console Mario since SMW, the first 4p co-op 2-D Mario ever, and has better exercise/party/sim games than any system before it. And motion controls.

I didn't even have a GC. I see it like this: Wii > StarCraft >>> GC.

In my opinion, The Wii is better than the Gamecube simply because of Virtual Console and backwards compability with the Gamecube.

I still love my purple lunchbox but my white toaster lets me play SMB, SMS and SMG in the same place. :D

Of course Wii is better, it's the Wii + the Gamecube + earlier systems with the VC + WiiWare... Also, it has the Wiimote, Nunchuck, Classic Controller (SNES layout + Dual Analog), and Gamecube controllers...

It's like those PS3 vs PS2 talks, if you have a BC PS3 you have PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSN (and CD+DVD playback adding Blu-Ray, USB and HDD capabilities), so it's the best one... The comparison only makes sense with the non-BC PS3...

just check out my game list, I am sure you will find at least 20 you like.

Using Wii's backward compatibility to make comments like Wii > GC doesn't really make sense since the issue here is the core games published for each platform during its lifespan. If such arguments were used then I could go ahead and say:
Wii>GC>N64>SNES>NES
or
PS3>PS2>PS1
or
XBox360>XBox

Point taken I hope? The issue here is the amout of support the core gamer is getting, not whether or not the new platform is superior.

None of Nintendo's systems before the Wii were backwards compatible in any way.

But no, bringing "core" games as the heart of your argument doesn't make any more sense. "Core" games do not denote any particular experience or metric of quality.

The Wii's lineup is just better than the Gamecube's was. The Virtual Console only compounds that.
