Point taken I hope? The issue here is the amout of support the core gamer is getting, not whether or not the new platform is superior.

None of Nintendo's systems before the Wii were backwards compatible in any way.

But no, bringing "core" games as the heart of your argument doesn't make any more sense. "Core" games do not denote any particular experience or metric of quality.

The Wii's lineup is just better than the Gamecube's was. The Virtual Console only compounds that.
