Forums - Sony - Biggest Dutch retailer boycotts PSPgo

So who would buy a PSPGo when they can get a home console for the same price?

Well thats just like saying who would get a PSP-3000 or DSi when you can get a home console (360 arcade) for bout the same price.  But people do.  Its about people's preferences.

Like some mentioned, NedGame is a small chain of games dedicated mini stores. In my city Dimension Plus is a bigger games dedicated store and both are tiny compared to the big players like Media Markt, Saturn or toy stores (like Toys 'R' Us, Bart Smit, etc) in my city.

It's understandable though, it's easy to imagine a store dedicated to selling games or video content on disc aren't too fond of download dedicated devices and content (cutting out the middle man).

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

I believe Sony have mentioned a few times the Go is going to launch with 'early adopter' pricing - i.e. a high price on the assumption of lower sales units from those initially interested in the device.

Depending on sales I guess we'll see how quickly Sony decide to move the pricing from 'early adopter' to 'more reasonable'...

Clearly, with the UMD PSPs staying on the market, Sony believe there will be a small market initially who are interested in going fully digital - and as such I doubt this will trouble them overmuch.

I'm not totally sold myself on the potential uptake of the Go, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Only things great about PSPGo are Bluetooth and 16GB HD.

I'm not defendg the DSi here either. I'd kill myself first than buying a DSi. However with those money you still can't get a Wii or almost a PS3, with the PSPGo you almost can.

hmmm i see your point lol.  Yea the price of teh PSP Go really is up there with the highest end of gaming consoles. Dam lol.  Electronic places should display the PSP Go next to iPods instead and then itll look better lol ...actually they should put it next to the 64gb ipod touch thats going for $399 lol.

Also

the PauseGame feature
Much more portable
Doesn't look too much like a game system when you're using it for music/vids/pictures

4 ≈ One

Interesting.  But unless this becomes a far reaching trend elsewhere right now we are looking at one retailer in a country that is only slightly less than twice the size of New Jersey.

Currently playing:  PC:  Wolfenstein  PS2:  Final Fantasy X  PS3: All-Pro Football 2K8 Wii:  Force Unleashed  PSP:  God of War: CoO Xbox 360:  Gears of War 2

Most anticipated game:  Dragon Age Origins (PC)

I can imagine there be a large backlash by some retailers, if a console switches to digital download format. Unless they can get a cut of game sales, there is less of a motivation to carry a game console.
