Forums - Sony - PS3 3D Gaming NOT to require Special T.V.

Up until now every game you have played has only had two dementions of Control...Use left stick to Look, right stick to move...All that will change in 2010 due to Sony's new 3D tech that WILL NOT require any special TV of any kind, even a Standard Def TV will suffice...

Ever since Sony announced that are debating the idea of requiring 3D functions to all PlayStation games that begin developement halfway through 2010, many have speculated and rejected the idea stating,

"Consumers and general public are not ready nor willing to purchase a $4500 3D enabled Television just to play games."

But those speculations are wrong, Sony will not require (in any way) a 3Dementional enabled Television for these adaptations...(For video showing this, scroll down)..Here's how Sony's innovations surprize us yet again, and no doubt will push the industry forward...yet again.

It all starts with the (already released) PlayStation Eye Infared Camera (which will no doubt soon be bundled with all future PS3 systems).  Place this Camera at the base of your television (no particular angle is needed) and put your "Glasses" on (being touted as the best 3D glasses yet made, to be bundled with PS3 and sold seperatly) these glasses will be mounted with Two INFARED LED's on each side (which is perfectly safe in every way) the camera will not use its body tracking tech (ala Natal) but instead use pure infared detection for 100% accuracy...It will track the LED's on the glasses creating the illusion of 3D effect on your TV visible by anyone watching you play (even without the glasses, which are only there for an extra pop out bonus to the Player and to hold the Infared LED's) FOR VIDEO EXAMPLE WATCH BELOW

Not only will this allow for a Third Dimention in Controls (Left stick to look around, Right Stick to move, pinpoint headtracking for...W/E they are to use it for) but sony is also working on its wii-mote like controller (though much more advanced) which will also feature Infared LED's for 1:1 pinpoint accuracy, The Infared in this case will allow for pin point depth detection, which the wii struggles with...All of this combined will allow the PS3 to easily out pace the motion abilities of its competitors, for the time being.

The First game that will Feature this Tech is Gran Turismo 5, avail. in cockpit view while racing, photomodes and replays, Game will likely be bundles with the PSeye Cam and Glasses.

SO FEAR NOT!! Youwill not have to worry about shelling out 4500+ USD to buy yourself a top of the line TV for a few games.

Forgive my Grammar, and enjoy.

(Should note the PSeye DOES have Regular body, Depth tracking similar to that of Natal, but its not as accurate as Infared Tech.

That´s really good news. I remember reading it could be necessary a HDTV with 200 hz to play 3D games in PS3, but now all tv models seems to support this fantastic technology.

i knew about it from back at CES

they said it doesn't have to be in the hardware.

Thats insane i hope this is put to good use.

These threads keep on popping up slowly, each with a little bit more of juicy info and every time just get passed by. Personally im really excited for this, especially now since all i need are a pair of glasses.

CURRENTLY PLAYING:  Warframe, Witcher 2

I did a lot of research on 3D and currently own a pair of 3d glasses that work with my PC and TV.
I bought a 3D ready Samusng TV for 2700 last year tax in and it is 67 inches. that 4500 comment is BS.

There are 2 HUGE problems with this.

1. Huge amount of processing power to give the true and proper 3D. You know...the type of 3D that has pop out FX and things goung out of your TV. PS3, 360 and a low end PC simply dont have the hosepower to do this with retail games.

2. This will be priceyyyyyyy... regular shutter glasses are over 100 dollars and these will be even more if they don't rely of TV refresh rate.
